I just received a Text message from this number saying "Its Urgent call Comenity Capital Bank" at this number or gives an odd web or E-mail address, Re my Ulta MC.

Notice no comma after urgent and no apostrophe in it's.

Of course, I didn't call, but I did do a browser search on that number and found that it's been a scam number for a few years now claiming to be from several different retailers including Amazon, Ann Taylor, Capital Bank, etc.

Lots of scams out there. I get them via text and email.

I've received emails supposedly from Spectrum. Called Spectrum about the first one, and they said it was fake. Deleted it. Got another one today. Different message, but still wanted me to send them info. No way! Deleted it too.

I got an email from some company I never heard of telling me the amount I requested to be deducted from my bank account had been processed. Noticed odd spellings of common words. Red flag! Delete.

If you hover over a suspicious sender's email, it's always some weird random adddress. Don't click on anything. Don't respond. Delete those!

I have gotten similar messages in the past. I will often Google the number given with the word scam to see if anyone else has gotten a scam message with the smae phone number.

@kaydee50 I use "Block Unknown Caller" on my iPhone but texts still go through and this type of scam is usually a text.

I love that block caller feature!

Best never to open any link or make any phone call for one of these alerts

You can check the validity in many ways that dont allow the scammer to know you are a valid email or phone #. You can go online to your credit card or call the number given on the CC website. Same with the bank or other finanical institution.

Never, ever, never, ever, never, ever click into a link or call them at the number they give.

Yesterday I received an email re a DocuSign document that needed my signature. I've used DocuSign before but am not doing anything at the moment that would require my signature on a document. It gave a document number and a "draft" name of the document. The email looked so real. I, of course, did not click on the link to the document. When I clicked on the "mark as spam" the email addressee popped up and was definitely not legitimate.

I always Google the number too. If I don't know the number, I never answer the phone.

@Icegoddess. Thank u for spelling out in full detail and alerting us of the scam number and message. It helps in case we should get that! Another poster in another thread wouldn’t give out any information about her scam and got everyone riled about it that caused umpteen pages of comments. Thanks again.

@Bri369 I would do that too but lately they've come back as not enough information or something like that.

For some stupid reason unknown to us, Verizon or Nomorobo, Nomorobo no longer works on our home phone so now we just let it ring and if it's a real call they will leave a message.

I just saw a horrible story about the "Gold Bar" scam this morning on local NYC news.

A woman was deceived by scammer phone calls pretending to be the FTC saying her bank accounts were compromised. She needed to buy gold bars to back up the accounts and give them to someone for pickup. She was convinced that the Treasury Department was overseeing the procedure.

She was told that she was being watched and must not disclose it to anyone.

She purchased gold bars multiple times, gave them to someone showing up in a car and ultimately lost $700,000, her life savings!

Very sad that they preyed on her, but it's believed she clicked on a link on her laptop that started the operation. They had access to her name, address and phone number.

Yes! According to the news report she handed them over in front of her apartment building and they gave her a "receipt" from the Treasury Department. The story shows the fake receipt.

Wow!

Nobody from the Treasury Dept. would be coming to your house. That's a huge red flag right there.
