Looking for a new scent.

I just returned from a cruise and entertained myself trying out perfumes on the ship. I quite liked Dolce and Gabanna Devotion ( they only had Intense)

And a fellow passenger remarked that the original Devotion was better.

I also wanted to try Burbury ( sp?) Goddess but they didn't have a tester?

Anyone worn any of these?

Devotion is one of my favorites, I agree the original is better. I got it online at sams club. Also an online fragrancenet dot com is a lot cheaper. I even have a backup bottle. I have a middle eastern dupe for goddess that was under 40 dollars for 3.4 ounces, its wonderful. Its Lattafa Angham. I got it off of amazon but I made sure it was sold by actual amazon.

I just have the dupe of goddess but from what everyone says its spot on. Its lovely, it is a vanilla scent with a bit of lavendar, its hard to explain but its wonderful, one of my top 3. Costco has goddess online for a good price.

Tik tok has lots of fragrance reviews also. And there is a website fragrancita dot com that tells you all about the fragrance.

@wonderfulworld I love scents and have a few...different ones I wear in different seasons.

I've always loved Philosophy fragrances, my favorite Pure Grace, but since Coty took over, as others have expressed here, they've lost their staying power...by a lot. Minutes after you spray them on they're gone. Too bad.

Anyway, my newest Love in the fragrance dept comes from the Gucci Garden collection. BF got me for Christmas "Gorgeous Orchid" (Yellow bottle)...not a sweet or cloying floral but a soft, vanilla softened, kind of light musky, feminine floral. Very soft, a tad sweet, staying power.

My 2nd fav in the collection is "Gorgeous Gardenia" (pink bottle), which I don't own... A little sweeter but still light and soft, but with staying power and impact.

I'm sure if you look them up they describe them better, and tell you the particular notes each one has.

For summer one of my recent favs was from "Juliette has a gun" brand, "Vanilla Vibes." It's a light, soft "beachy" mix of salt air, musk, vanilla. Also has good staying power all day without being a heavy or perfumey scent.

Goddess is one of my favorite scents. My husband bought me anew bottle for Christmas. If I re-purchase a scent that means I love it... This one smells good, but it also lasts and that is my biggest complaint with perfumes, you can find plenty that smell good, but do they last? This one does....

I first noticed the Vanilla Vibe scent because our waitress told me what it was.

I bought it....they send you small tube samples to try with your first purchase. I sent the sample to my niece and she loved it more than I did. At 80, I thought it was too young and flirty for me.

The perfumer is a grandson of a famous woman perfumer.

I am with you on Philosophy. Also feel the exact same about Tova.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. I like staying power as long as it doesn't overwhelm.

I bought Prai's Scent of a Woman Eau de Parfum and though I like the scent it doesn't seem to stay with me.

I was doing some online looking and Devotion was #2 scent for 2024. Goddess was #1. Not sure who did the ranking.

Another very pretty scent that a friend of mine wears, Kenzo "Flower", you can find several places online. Don't remember exactly how to describe its fragrance, but I love it everytime I'm with my friend. If I didn't have too many to use up now, I would have bought a bottle.

I do recall it's light, feminine, pretty, floral.

Again, I'm sure there's a good description with reviews online.

@amyb i got a travel size of Gorgeous gardenia from Macys, it smells awful, I plan on returning it, I wonder if it has gone bad? I ordered it because I love gardenia.

@spumoni99 Well, fragrance is so subjective; I liked it.

Though the one I actually got I like better, the Gorgeous Orchid, in the yellow bottle.

It might be bad, but also, though Gardenia is in the name, I wouldn't say it smells at all like the real Gardenia flower itself, so if that is what you were expecting, and why wouldn't you, given the name!...then I could see why you'd be disappointed in it.

I don't know how Gucci named these...as orchids I don't think smell either...so can't say that's what my fragrance smells like. I just love that it was a soft, vanilla, sweet floral. That's the best way I can describe it. And like I had said, the Gardenia was even sweeter and maybe more floral...but still soft.

Oh well, doesn't sound like it was for you. Maybe if you think it just was bad you can try it on in the store again. But if you actually want a true gardenia scent, that is probably out there somewhere in another perfume. Good luck! 🌺
