@I am still oxox Yes, it is a conundrum at times!

DH and I just had a (cough) heated -- disagreement yesterday. It was over...er...decorating in the house. I wanted to replace something. He said no!

I was hoping that this a.m. he would come 'round to my way of thinking, so I approached the subject again. He hadn't changed his mind.

Then I simply said that he had no sense of esthetics. Then he corrected me. Yes, he did! Over certain things.

Yes, he certainly did, I had to agree - over his cars!

Then he emphasized how we complement each other.

And a bit later he said, (in a much more mellowed tone) "All right. You can get that for my birthday." (Which is next month.)

There is always hope!

@I am still oxox After a couple of years my late DH and I were pretty well tuned in to each other. Didn't have the situation you do.

After nearly 50 years of marriage, DH and I have it pretty well figured out. I cook, he cleans. He hangs the paintings, I arrange the flowers. The kids call me or dad depending who can best help them with the pressing problem We discuss the big problems together and pray together. When I say "we need to," he says "by we, you mean me?" Yes. If I ask him to do anything, he won't remember. So, I have to leave notes.
