Walmart Scam

Has anyone gotten this Walmart call thats a Scam?

Received it and it says on your Walmart acct a playstation costing $900 has been ordered.

Then they say to call this number.

I checked online and saw its a scam. But first I was freaking out a little lol cuz I know we didnt order anything.

Not from Walmart but from Amazon and the Apple Store on the same day but different phone numbers and for the same amount of $1200. I knew it was a scam so I didn't even bother to check.

I get 3 or MORE of those "notices" A DAY....and the amounts are in the THOUSANDS of dollars. Those crackpots must "think" I'm LOADED!

We, actually I, answer the phone for 8 numbers. If it's not one of 4 family members, 3 doctors or our financial advisor then it can ring until voice mail picks it up. My husband thinks his head would explode if he did answer it but will say, well what if it's someone wanting to get in touch with us. Well, if it was that important they would have left a message.

You can tell the spam calls by the way they ring...a constant LONG ring usually means it's from a computer, not a live person.

Nope, I never got that one, but I got others.

Recently, someone used my debit card number to purchase something in Walmart in two different states on the same day.

Fortunally for me, there wasn't enough money in my checking account to cover the charges and the transactions were denied.

When I received an e-mail from my bank about the denial, I cancelled the card and had a new one issued.

You have to be careful out there.

I received an email, like that, from Amazon about 5 years ago. Nothing since. But my phone blocks all scam calls so I never get scam phone calls. If one does slip though I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

I haven't received that particular call but I received similar calls about purchases on my Amazon account a few times. And one abouty American Express card.....which I don't even have. I did freak out the first time. I knew better than to call the number. I called Amazon cs and they explained it was an often seen scam.

Several months ago I set up my landline to only accept calls from certain numbers via Spectrum because of multiple calls into late night. If my phone rings from any other number it's a short ring and the number is blocked so the call does not come through. I love it !! and I don't answer cell phone calls from any number that I don't recognize. Thanks for the info and I hope it prevents someone from being scammed !! These creeps are ridiculos !!

@monicakm It was a PIA getting the new card plugged into my online accounts...like PayPal, but my credit union got me a new card right away.

I was told I could pick it up in two hours, and it was ready when I went in.

I feel blessed that I didn't lose any money.

I have my account set up so that if my checking account/ debit card does not have enough funds, they don't transfer money from the savings automatically. Also, I get email every time my card is used, immediately.

I never keep a high balance in my checking account. I can always transfer the funds from savings using my iPad or phone if I need a higher balance to cover a purchase or bill.

It's called overdraft protection. You can either opt into it or not.

I got rid of my house phone a few years ago. I never gave that number to anyone, family members or work, as my cellphone is always with me. I never even knew my house number. But I had to laugh at the amount of scam calls I would get. I just let the messages pile up.

I do get scam calls on my cell. But thanks to the Verizon filter app, they just show up in my "missed" calls log as potential spam. There is an office somewhere in Florida that calls every few days, several times in a row, but never leaves a message. I have tried calling the numbers just out of curiousity, but it also goes into a voicemail system. Like a Seinfeld episode.

I also get alot of spam emails, especially for software protection of all things.

I block phone numbers and emails like this so fast my phone spins.

Never click on anything in them.

We dont answer the phone unless its someone we know They left a voicemail message lol.

SOO many scams out there! Its crazy.
