Artificial Intelligence, how do you feel about it?

In December I had a doctor's appointment. I was asked if I minded the use of Artificial Intelligence to take notes on what was said during the appointment. I agreed to it. However, I am a bit concerned in some ways about how Artifical Intelligence because I have heard it can be used for bad stuff. What is your opinion on it?

I don't know how I feel about it, but I think I would welcome it being used to take notes during a doctor's appointment. At one of my more recent appointments, I discovered that the PA (who was taking notes on the computer as I talked to her) wrote down something totally incorrect, which I discovered much later when looking at her notes on the portal. This made her prescribe a medication for me that in no way addressed my problem, since I was given an incorrect diagnosis.

So I suffered for three more months before I saw an actual doctor for my issue instead of that PA, which I had no choice the first time around, as I had to see who first had an opening. So frustrating!

My PCP uses a scribe who takes notes, while my PCP is talking to me. I am SO appreciative of that, although the scribe still gets minor things wrong.

I use AI for copy editing., campaign management, and data analysis. I like it.

What exactly are you afraid of?

@mormel20 AI is like every other concept I am familiar with. They all can be used for good and bad. Who uses them determines the value of its use for me.

I can't think of much that's important in my life which is all good or all bad for everybody, but as far back as I can remember that has always been true.

So far, my only experience with AI, has been with photographs(I think. ) I don't like it! I can no longer tell what is real and what's fake. My young cousin posted a picture, on IG, of herself on the cover of J.Crew. I was so happy for her and immediately sent it to family and friends. I even posted it to my IG story. Then, she tells me that it's AI. J.Crew no longer even has a paper catalog.

So now, "pictures, do lie!" 😵‍💫

For me AI is very scary. Have you ever seen the movie, I Robot? Science fiction has a way of becoming science fact. Do not like the way the world is headed.

No knowing what is true and what is AI is what I find so offensive. I really dislike it, and a friend of ours has mentioned that there are so many enhanced and fake photos of gardens and plants that she is losing business to AI 'work' and designs.

I don't know much about AI either---so am leery of it. However, I do like accurate notes being taken during an one-on-one visit with any professional----where there needs to be a dialogue--to get the conversations right. Have read a few notes from my dr visits that have been slightly wrong-----not enough to do harm but still was not what I said word for word. I would need to be told and asked for permission first. AI is here to stay--good and bad--can't change that, just need safe guards---

As some noted, it is clearly here to stay and will only become more advanced and more sophisticated in its capabilities. As with most technological advancements it will aid human kind but also have a downside. Learn to live with it I think and I embrace it. Soon every poster here could be a AI creation and be undetectable.

(Determining the authenticity of pictures and photos on the inter-web will become increasingly impossible.)

Agree, much of it is nothing more than lies. I really wish that there was an indelible mark on the photo aspects of AI.

We have been using AI for years.....just renamed it and made it available to the general public!

Anyone who has ever Googled has used rudimentary, fundamental AI.

But it has now developed to an evolutionary stage that is making some uncomfortable.

It's something that I am not clear on. Simply stated....

If something produced would be positive, safe and controlled and not harmful or malicious from AI, then I think it's a great advance.

Not sure if it has anything to do with 3D printers, but the fact that a gun can be made from one really scares me.

Like any advances, it requires understanding & can be used to make life easier & others will abuse technology. In the past, I’d never pay bills on line or do banking on line. Now, I love it & the bank doesn’t know what I look like.

I feel its good for some things but not for a TON of other stuff though.
