How do you say "Apricot"?

This is not important, but it is mildly interestly. There are two ways people say the word apricot. APE-ricot (ape like a gorilla). Or APP-ricot (like an app on your phone). I say "ape". What do you say?

I googled Apricot pronunciation and a audio comes up with the British and American pronunciation, both the same with a long A. Mine is probably more of a Texas/Southern thing with the "app."

The only thing I know for sure was my Mam-maw made the best apricot fried pies. She would make apple too since apricots were so expensive and would only allow each of her children and the grandchildren to have one apricot pie a piece. Have as many apple pies as we wanted since she had apple trees.

@beckyb1012 Hi I'm not so sure. I have heard "ape" in Texas but never in New England where I originate. It was always "app" but then again how often do we really hear the word.🤔

I also do not say "lobstah".🦞 I do have a thick "rrr" pronunciation.

I sound like a pirate.😂🏴‍☠️

I also love apricot pie and I make a great apricot braided bread at Christmas.
