Just venting ……

As some of you may remember, I've been going through chemo treatments for the last 4 months. Tests coming up in the next few weeks should determine whether my treatments are done. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's been a long journey that started with the diagnosis in May, then surgery, radiation and chemo, bloodwork, ct scans, ultrasounds. Been 6 months of this.

I have remained almost exclusively at home to prevent infections and only ventured out to renew drugs and pick up some groceries. VENT: Today someone from my financial planner's office came to my house unannounced to see if I want to make a change to a small account I have with them. They sent me emails which I ignored because I won't make any decisions while having "chemo brain".

This account is a small amount of $. Why would anyone think it's ok to just show up at someone's house like he did?? I'm in my pjs, have a beanie on my head cuz I'm bald, and wouldn't go out to talk to him. In addition I was finally getting over a bout of food poisoning from a salad dh brought me on Saturday.

I will never understand why anyone thinks it's ok to stop unannounced at someone's house. I really think it's disrespectful to assume someone is ok with this. Vent done. Thanks for listening.

My prayers are with @Kalli and I do understand about people just stopping by. I hate that myself and never do it to anyone. I also do not answer my door or my phone if I just would rather not. You take time for you and only you when you need to be alone. Blessings to you and all the great news you will soon be getting. Let us know.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I think it is extremely rude for anyone to show up unannounced. I do not answer my door.

Sounds suspicious to me. Why would they show up unannounced for something like that. Why wouldn't call you or email you? I would not have met him in, I wouldn't have spoken to him. But.... You shouldn't have ignored the letter. You should have responded that you were making no changes.

I would call the business he was from.

Today I do not answer anyone at my door unless I know them. I do have glass I can see who is there though.

I'm not a fan of anybody I don't know coming to my home. I get calls all the time from health insurance offering me free at home screenings. So often that I have blocked their number.

You should call this person's boss and complain. These days scammers think of all kinds of ways to trick you. This could be one of them.

You are more polite than I would have been. I would be VERY suspicious of someone coming to my home wanting to talk about my finances. I would have said I will make an appointment when it is convenient for me. I would call my financial institution to see if it was legit.

You might want to invest in some type of camera doorbell, we got one so we don't have to open the door we can talkto whomever is at the door through the camera. That way if someone is scoping to see if the house is empty they will know someone is home but you don't endanger yourself opening the door.

@Kalli. Please be patient with your planner as it's possible they were under some kind of deadline or pressure to get something signed or changed. The amount of the account wouldn't matter if that was the case. Apparently they had no other way of communicating and it had to be done.

I'm sure intruding on your privacy wasn't a choice they'd have chosen under normal circumstances. They may have tried to make an appointment but you were incommunicaato. Sounds like communications broke down.

What @Kachina624 said. You ignored their emails. Why didn't you respond or call them to let them know what was going on? They didn't know about your health. Don't know that this was the case, but some financial decisions are time-sensitive. I'm very sorry you've had cancer; it's a rough road.

I'm so sorry you are going through this awful Cancer journey. Unfortunately people who have never been in such a situation have no idea what a personal invasion they are making when they display such poor manners!

An angry woman may have taught the rude guy a thing or two today! I certainly hope so. And perhaps he went back to his office and reminded his co-workers of the imposition and sheer rudeness of stopping at a customer's home unannounced. We can hope your incense was well warranted.

BRAVO for standing up for your privacy in your own castle!

Just because the OP chose to ignore the e-mails doesn't give them the right to be knocking on her door unannounced.

How about a phone call or snail mail before just showing up.

I have 2 financial planners and let me tell you they would never show up,at my door. Not only is it rude, but sounds like someone inexperienced and over eager. You might send him an email explaining you are going thru chemo, you have received his emails... and chose not to,be bothered until you are better. Then just let him know, when you are better to handle these financial matters you will contact him. And,until then you would appreciate some privacy if it's not urgent of course.

I have had cancer and treatments, I didn't have chemo, only meds and radiation. but many of my friends have had chemo. . No picnic . Believe me there were days when they couldn't, or didn't want to speak to anyone, not even family. It is a unique personal journey that only you experience . I do know from my personal experience some of the hardest part was the medical snafus, the appts, the meds, the stress. Soooooo stressfiul. The waiting for labs and sure. I do know, there will be a point when you are on the other side of this treatment, and will be amazed at yourself. Most people I know, know they can do anything in life after this. And life is so much different after. Sweeter.

The most important thing , Kalli, is that you have good health and peace of mind and I wish you both.

As far as anyone going to your house unannounced, that is rude and shows a lack of manners and common sense. I also would call the financial planner and report it.

I can understand the stress it caused you and I am sorry you had to have such an experience. I hope you have calm days ahead and may good health be yours and your ordeal behind you.
