Long Day

Yes, it seems like a long day, but I'm ok with it. The time change doesn't bother me, and if they do decide to change it for good, I'm ok with that too. It was nice looking at the clock and seeing it's earlier than I thought. I know I'm in the minority on this, and that's fine.

I like DST best, but when the clocks change one whole hour, is no big deal.

I don't understand why some people act like it's something awful. It's only one hour. Most people can waste an hour's time and not even miss it.

Some people's body clocks have a terrible time adjusting to the change. My late husband was one of those people. It really affected his sleep/wake cycle. I watched him struggle twice a year while I adjusted right away. I hate changing the clocks but once they're changed, that's the time as far as I'm concerned.

My dog was wondering where his dinner was at 3. I had him wait for 15 minutes and caved.

@shoesnbags It doesn't do anything to me or my husband. My husband worked the 11 pm to 7 am shift for thirty-five years and often he worked doubles and sometime got stuck working overtime. He also had a second part time job. He didn't sleep much.

He worked 7 days in a row,then got 2 days off...then worked 8 days and got 4 off...which meant one weekend off a month.

We have never had a normal 8 hour sleeping schedule.

I am a night owl...I go to bed around 2-3 am....always have, even when I worked.

We also traveled a lot. When we fly our west,there was a three hour time difference. When we were in Asia, the time distance was 12 hours. Hawaii was 5 hours, I think.

My dogs seem to mind the time change, but for us, it's no big deal.

Shoekitty said, I agree. My body clock does not adjust!! I get up a little later or same time, but I am up until 1 or 2AM. But I still have to get up early if I have appt. I do not like the early dark hours. I need prolonged light. Also, my husband and I like to go out in yard later as well. Too dark. Seems like a lifetime from noon to 10pm. I am glad they have DST, I wouldn't want to do without it.

This is the first time that setting back the clock is effecting me physically. Before retirement I used to love the extra hour. Putting in long days at work, it was like getting a bonus hour back to my life. It's about 8:00 PM on the east coast and I am tired and may just give in to it and go to bed soon. I guess it's an age thing.

You're not alone, I love this new time. I like the cozy darkness and the day does seem to last forever.

@tansy Your post made me laugh. My dog followed me around for 30 minutes barking at me, wondering where his dinner was and thinking I was neglecting him. I caved too. haha

We are one of the places that never change our clocks. It get annoying for friends in other areas to remember if we are now 2 or 3 hours behind. The only thing I really have to adjust to is that all of the TV programs I watch are now on an hour later.

My 3 dogs definitely noticed the hour difference! We fed them early because they definitely don't approve of the time change, lol!

I never had any problems with the time change. It's a nuisance only because I have change all my watches and some clocks in the house.

Even if we stayed on Daylight time year round, you'd still have fewer hours of daylight during the winter.

And it also depends on where you live as to how much less daylight you have. The farther north you live, the shorter the days are. It will still get dark at 6pm in the dead of winter, unlike 8 or 9pm during the peak of summer.

Changing the clocks doesn't change nature.

@tansy - I was just chillin' watching TV yesterday and kept wondering why my doggie kept coming over to check on me an hour before his dinnertime, like saying duh, hello, are you forgetting something? LOL🤔
