Answer to Kim G’s ? Party Line!

Here's my PARTYLINE story for those who want to read!

I had moved with my family to a small southern town in Indiana (Bedford). The kids who lived in this town had all lived there their entire lives. I was the newbie and out of the "odd man out" because I didn't know anybody!

One Saturday night, (feeling lonely as a teenager in hs) I called in to local radio show (do they still do that?) to request a song.
I heard kids from high schools in the area talking in the background as the busy signal beeps kept repeating!

I WAS THRILLED!
Here was a way I could talk to local teens my age about anything and everything!

IT WAS A PARTYLINE AND IT WAS FUN!

Kim and Mary had a party line with 2 customers who called in the other night . Not sure if it was staged but everyone acted really surprised along with the caller who kept saying she wanted to be on air .

Some fool who kept saying and acting surprised she talked forever then she said "am I on air"? Poor Kim

said "yes, hon your on air". Mary , tried to stay on course with the clothes, but, was a struggle.

Finally, they got rid of her. Wasn't no act . Poor Kim

was flustered. Mary was wore out. LOL

Maybe you can still see it. The show was 12 am Nov1 Mary & Kim when she was showing her TSV pants

I agree. The calls are cringe inducing.

Lately on Kim's shows QVC can't seem to connect with the callers.

Just dead air with Kim shouting, "Are you there? Did we lose you?".

I think the universe is trying to tell QVC to give up the ridiculous calls 😂

When they do connect it's a rambling, confusing, embarrassing mess 🤦

Yes!!! I remember when we used to be able to do that. I was in a bigger town. We had three high schools and were able to talk to kids from across town. What fun! Then the phone company fixed that.

I think the last request I made was for 'Indian Reservation' by Paul Revere & the Raiders.

I agree. That one was particularly cringe worthy. Plus, I'm not sure they even talked to the other person. The first lady just kept talking and then saying she wanted to be on air. And them all I can think of is that stupid Progressive commercial.

I’m sure that local phone company "fixed" that situation there too...probably shortly after I moved away!

I used that fun idea from 8th to 9th grade then we moved further north within Indiana.

They didn't have that feature there...I know BECAUSE I CHECKED LOL

@Franklinbell I remember doing that also . It was Christmas time and I called out local radio station , I must have been 17 maybe and requested " Merry Christmas Darling". By the Carpenters! I love thst song .! He did play it and announced it was going out to me ! Yes fun times !
