@joann1218 When I've purchased gifts for my nieces and nephews when they were wee young, I bought them Jellycat stuffed animals. Oh boy....they loved them. Also, I bought my niece this big, fluffy pink bath towel that had a hood with adorable cat ears.

Jellycats are the rage and kids love them. However, I suspect the moms are liking them too. My granddaughter is always hinting for another for her son, my great grand son, who is,10 months old. He loves the Lion best. But that is her fav too lol also little girls do love Uggs. Pink Uggs I have found.
ETA. If you go the Jellycat route get now , because those sell out quick and go for a fortune on Amazon from 3 rd parties. I would go to jellycat.com

Four year olds aren't all the same. You didn't even tell us if it's a girl or a boy. I think you should ask the child's mom for suggestions.

I'm much older than 4 and I love the jellycats. Thank you for introducing me to these wonderful soft stuffed toys

How about Chelsea, Barbie's little sister.

This camper set is so adorable as long as there are no liitle kids under 3 (small pieces)

The camper opens up to bunk beds inside the trailer.

Get her something that helps her learn and build skills and is gender neutral. Best gift and something that would help her and challenge her mind and be interesting.

I look for clothes for my nieces and grand nieces at Christmas. They are usually received with enthusiasm.

Got a little plaid tartan shirt for the littlest one, a boy of about 2, for holiday pictures, and a pretty sweater for his 4 year old sister.

Another brother's family has a blind adoptee toddler, and I usually send an audio gift and games and puzzles for the other kids.

I would ask her Mom what type of things is she into? The Mom should have good ideas and then you can go to the store and look for things in that theme.

Your best bet is to ask Mom. Assuming a girl always wants "girlie" things is taking a chance. When I was just a kid I hated dolls and all things associated with playing dolls or house. I wanted cowboy stuff and a horse. I was such a tomboy.

My DGD is now 10 so her interests have changed.

She would have loved those jelly cats!

She also loved and still loves the aquishmallows.

And the UGGS...her mom found a pair of gently used gold ones in a child's size at a resale....DGD wore those EVERYWHERE!

When my daughter was that age and she had a birthday party to go to I'd reach out to the parent (usually the Mom) and ask what is on his/her birthday wish list. I always liked to get them something they really wanted. My daughter started with Lego at a young age and she's almost 20 now and still loves them. Of course the most difficult and expensive ones now. She also liked American Girl dolls. AG has dolls for the younger ones like Bitty Babies. Target makes dolls similar to AG. Magnet tiles are still popular.
