So many times you hear, "what would you tell your 12 yr. old self, today?

Heard this again today when a person was interviewed. The reporter asked the subject, that question: "what would you tell your 12 year old self, today?"

I guess I'd say, "don't worry about today, there's a whole world out there to explore".

I'd say you are not fat! Look around girl, you aren't the only kid with some acne! Middle school will pass and at 14 Iife gets better for you! At 12, I felt like the big ugly duckling. I was very chubby. My friends were all small little girls who got their clothes in the preteen section. My clothes came from the women's section. I was probably a women's 10 or 12. I felt huge. I had some acne on my cheeks. I felt ugly. I was a voracious reader and an honor student. I think burying my mind in books kept me from thinking about how ugly and fat I was.

My parents told me, scolded me and put me to work just fine. I wouldn't tell me anything different from what they told me.

I was never asked the question but I have said, if I knew then what I know now, maybe I’d not have made certain decisions. But, as I look back, my father gave me all the advice I needed. He instilled in me & by example, a strong work ethic & it has served me well. Honestly, I don’t think I would have done anything different re decisions that matter.

Even though I have an enduring marriage, I would recommend to my future self to live independently for a few years.
