R.I.P. John Lennon Who....

...would have been 84 yrs old today. Born Oct.

9, 1940. Just "imagine" all the great music he would have written had he lived. I can barely type this without tearing up. 😢

My favorite Beatle is Paul. Whose here was John?

I didn't care for his music until I aged. I like it now.

My fav beatle was George. I like his looks and how he kept thin through the years.

@Group 5 minus 1 I almost added to my OP something about the film Yesterday. I was greatly surprised near the end. Great music in that film! 😁

I recenlty watched a documentary on John Lennon and in 2016 it was determined by whom I don't know, but that Imagine was the song of the century and I am assuming that meant the 20th century. What an honor and he could not be here to know that. Like many people who grew up with the Beatles I was in a state of shock and cried for days when he died.

George was my favorite Beatle and if I could only hear one song for the rest of my days it would be My Sweet Lord sung by Billy Preston.

@mildoo That's odd because I remember reading at the end of the 20th centuty that In My Life Was picked as the best song of the 20th century.

I liked Ringo best, which is downright weird, but I was 12 or 13. I liked the way he played the drums. Everyone teased me about it, even my dentist. John was my second favorite--I liked his lyrics. When they all split, I liked each and every one. What an incredible collection of talent, and they all got better and better after the group broke up.

I've posted this here before, but I lived about 1/2 a mile uptown from the Dakota (I think that's where he lived), and heard the screams and honks of the emergency vehicles on the night that poor John was murdered. Also have posted this: I was walking across the park to my doctor's office and saw John once, wheeling baby Sean in his carriage. New Yorkers never bug celebrities, and I didn't, but I couldn't help beaming and smiling! He beamed back.

@Burnsite I never tire of your great story about seeing Lennon and Sean. I don't think I could have held back, and if I didn't faint i'd have said something to him.

@Burnsite Your recollection of seeing John on the street is so amazing ! Not so though hearing the honks and emergency vehicles . You being young you probably didn't realize they enormous impact it would have in the aftermath.

@spumoni99 Yes, tsunami they were all slender but to me George was thin.

I like the early rock n roll artists and the rockers - I like thin bodies on men. Never cared for the jocks.

Was never a fan of John, and couldn't stand Yoko (yucko) Ono. Geprge was my favorite.
