My niece lives in Paris, and my sister spends her summer in Portugal, and they both have told me about this French woman.

Her name is Gisèle Pélicot.

Google her. The BBC has quite the lengthy article on what has happened to her.

I truly have no words.

Sadly, this happens to women every day of the week in many places in many countries.

This woman to me, was being kind in the words she used to describe her perpetrator husband. I would not have been so "polite" and I cannot say what he is here...

Hopefully, she gets justice and he gets the wrath of fellow prisoners..

That is a terrible story to happen to this woman. There must be more to this story than I am reading because it seems I have more questions. I was reading this article on Reuters.

I read about this story on the news- she is so brave and strong and I am glad that she's taking her absolutely terrible trash husband and all of the filthy trash guys who violated her to court. I am rooting for her and I hope these predators and her predator husband get life in prison at the very least.

@elated Her mental state? I imagine her mental state is horrible, she apparantly is suffering from PTSD upon learning what happened to her from someone she trusted. She was drugged up and didn't know what was happening to her. She also contracted 4 ST diseases. I'm not sure what article you read, but you only got half of the story.

No one is victim blaming. Quit throwing around words. I just tend to question a story that doesn't make sense. Everyone has a right to think differently. I imagine she went through a rough time.

He's her ex-husband and is in jail. I don't know how she originally found out, but she must have been devastated.

I read she could have kept this quiet but she said the conversation about this type of violence is long overdue in France.

@Tinkrbl44 If I remember correctly, her husband was arrested for taking pics up women's skirts, and in subsequent investigation they collected his devices and that's where the police discovered all the videos, and that's how she found out.

What a horrid story. I don't understand how some of the men can say that he didn't mean to rape her but admits that he did so? My heart hurts for that woman, the only saving grace is that apparently she was unconscious so hopefully she does not remember the depravity. I cannot imagine how one heals from such a betrayal by one you love and trust.

Over 50 men are on trial; another 30 or so are yet unconvicted and they think a couple of dozen more knew about it, and no one said or did anything. So she was violated literally hundreds of times while unconscious. Apart from the stultifying depravity of the men, what I don't understand is how she didn't know she was being drugged all the time. Once or twice I would understand, but this took place over 10 years.

Women who have been drugged, may not remember what happened but know they've been drugged. How could she not have experienced the physical results?
