UPDATE: I'm glad I watched because I bought one those giant totes on wheels selling out, I NEED one at my "50++" Age of Disability. I AM sick and tired of hearing references to "lines, wrinkles, menopause, dryness, wetness etc etc). I have zero lines & very healthy skin because I've taken care of my whole body since my teens and no menopause symptoms.

OG post: I'm a Customer and Viewer (sometimes). I was curious about QVC's highly promoted 4X Weekly 2 hour segment "Alive With Possibility" so I tuned in tonight for the "premier". I was hoping to see & hear some thoughtful discussions about Women feeling "alive with possibilities" (or the sound of music.). The 2 hour show began with Shawn and Monifa (not familiar) enthusiastically talking about their new show and reading 5 comments from women viewers (allegedly). I thought - "Maybe I can get interested in their topics of discussion"? (I'm so naive).
FIVE MINUTES in and Kim Gravel shows up to holler and sell tee shirts. It's Sell Sell Sell - plus some lectures about aging that I DO NOT need to hear. Now someone's selling "Menopause Panties". This sounds like "elevated" pitches of QVC products targeted for the "mature" customer - not so new. But they're also selling a Vag lubricant (women have been buying this kind of stuff for decades).
Whose idea was this? I have to wonder how long this condescending approach will last? Is it working for you?What do you all think?

QVC's evening programming has gone from bad to worse.

I am not watching. However when I turned on the TV, the QVC channel was on and they were selling David’s cookies. They have a peanut butter flavor with Reese’s in them. I am ashamed to admit that I bought some. Their cookies are so good. But then I changed the channel, lol. I wish I had turned it on earlier and seen one of those other products. I would have changed the channel and never gone back.

I moved on over to HSN. It's much nicer over there. The hosts aren't screeching about people's ages, or intimate bodily functions. They have some cute Halloween stuff. .

HSN= No Drama

I do love Davud's cookies. I bought the 174 piece when it was offered. It was $59.98. Best cookies.

Agree, I don't watch a shopping channel to hear about menopause. Shawn was just talking about missing her period! Come on! What does over 50 have to do with shopping or not shopping, I've been shopping since I was in my teens and nothing has changed, if I like what I see I get it, I don't need to hear about menopause, I actually didn't even have any of the so called symptoms anyway so not interested.

I can't help you answer those questions. The only shows I watch, with audio, are Leah's fashion shows and some jewelry. Everything else is on mute or I just check Items on Air periodically.

The on-air programming has been unwatchable for some time and is only getting worse. In terms of whose idea was it, I think we can assume the usual overpaid corporate suits. Apparently enough viewers like it, or at least or not bothered by it, so that they haven't pulled the plug yet. There have been a lot of discussion threads here about the Over 50 cr*pola if you want to go back and look for them. Misery loves company.

Like I admitted in my post "I'm naive" - even at my advanced age of probability. I know - they possibly could have talked more about REAL life issues (besides incontinence). There were a few throwaway comments about 50+ women who actually started businesses - WOW.

Same here! I decided years ago that "menopause" was a hoax perpetrated by the medical profession. Asian women typically don't experience it - their diet and habits are NOT American style. I'll often watch the "Beauty" shows regardless of the age group. I might stop altogether if I hear more "Ladies Over 50 you need this -----".

@CaliGold67 I have mentioned many times, but for those who haven't read my posts, I have been a customer for 38 years. I do very well with change, in fact, I like change. I accept it and try to adapt. I don't even mind Shawn's quirkiness, the wine drinking, the ranting, the raving, etc (you get my point). Nothing has really annoyed me.

For all these years I have watched QVC practically every day. I have continued to make hundreds of purchases every year. I have highly recommended QVC to family and friends.

But, for the first time ever something is just not working for me. It has become so obvious with everything they attempt to sell. Most items are irrelevant to aging yet somehow they seem to input this "age of possibility" in their comments. I did start watching tonight with Shawn and Motifa. Once they started talking about a particular host I can no longer watch I was losing interest fast. To avoid making this post any longer, I just could not watch.

I am a very forgiving, adaptable person. I have always stood up for QVC, backed up their policies, and shop almost exclusively with them and HSN. I haven't yet concluded I will no longer shop with them, but I have found this new slogan for them has become too annoying to even have QVC on for background noise. And I ask, how is this going to bring in the younger generation. It's just not making sense to me.

@cjm61 I 100% agree - I've been curiously watching some of these redesigned shows out of curiosity. I'm 97% annoyed by the talking points around women's numerical ages. What I know is that American women from ages 55-75 are the highest Spenders in the country. It's nothing new or earth-shattering but I resent being told by salespeople that because of my age I have certain needs thus SHOULD BUY such & such AND that I have to have a certain "attitude" about Life. Gimme a break.

But I'll speak for myself, if that was meant to represent all QVC posters or viewers or shoppers.

My spending has remained about the same since inception of this campaign.

Perhaps even a bit higher, given the rise in Free Shipping Days, which always incentivize me.

I just don't get any of it---saw a tiny bit of the "BIG" event ....and turned the channel-- as I usually do these days---didn't make sense to me --3/4 of the stuff has nothing to do with my life--I don't buy much anymore, not impressed with free shipping days and most the hosts are impossible to watch or listen to. A big fat thumbs down, IMO!!!

I did see/hear Amy Stran say she is 5'2" and weighs between 120 and 130. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT. SHE WEARS AN XXS AND A 0 OR A 2!!!!

@highmaintenancejan I'm curious what part you don't believe about Amy's statement. I too am 5'2" (on a good day 5' 2 3/4"). I usually weigh in about 123-126 lbs. but can vary between 120-127. In QVC sizing I wear anywhere between an xxs-small, depending on style and brand. I also have had to purchase a size 0 at times but usually wear a 4 or 6.

Do you think she wears a smaller size or a larger size? Or do you feel she doesn't know what she weighs?

I do want to clearly state I am in no way an XXS or a size 0 in department stores.
