Our Kohls ..

I think our closest Kohls might be closing. The store is full of 70-85% off racks. Looks like a mess stuff all over.

I hope not I like Kohls used to be my go to store. I haven't been in it since Christmas and I was surprised.

I bought 2 tshirts for $11 total.

I have received many emails from Kohls all week advertising 70 to 85% off. I think this is just an end of season clearance event to make room for fall and holiday merchandise. I wouldn't worry about your store as it seems to be a national clearance event where all stores are participating.

This weekend starts $10 off $25 or more. I get a lot of coupons

and discounts from Kohl's.

I have a Kohls near by and no indication of closing but I recently received a email that they are moving the credit card to be managed by Capital One and you will be able to shop anywhere with the new Kohls Rewards visa. This starts around 9/16.

Most likely, end of season clearance as others have said.

I also have a kohls charge and I received the email on 8/27 that they are sending new cards by 9/16. Rewards include gas and grocery purchases and everywhere else that Visa is accepted. I haven't used my card in a while as well. Hope that helps

I received the same letter. I looked at the interest rate which was around 32% I think. I immediately called and canceled my Kohl's credit card which I have had for over 25 years. I have kept the balance paid off for the last 7 years so I haven't had to pay interest. The rate was so high I decided I didn't need to keep an account any longer.

I wouldn't be upset if my Kohl's store closed. I have never been a Kohl's shopper. I actually hate shopping there.

The only thing I like about them is that they take Amazon returns.

The last time I took a return from Amazon back, they gave me a $10 coupon to use in their store, so I looked around.

I found a hand vac that I needed and went to buy it at the self checkout. The coupon wouldn't work and an employee came to help me.

Finally, he said vacuums were excluded. I paid full price for it. I used it immediately and loved it, then checked the price for the same exact item on Amazon.

It was $30 cheaper! So, I ordered from Amazon and returned the new unused vacuum I got from Amazon back to Kohl's and got my money back. ( I didn't want to return a dirty used item)

I swear, I am done shopping there. While I was waiting in line to do the return, a customer got irate with the Kohl's employee and security needed to be called.

Not Kohl's fault, but not a good experience. That store is just too expensive and everything is too close. It's difficult to walk between the merchandise racks.

I received the same info, so I just think they are wanting get rid of summer merchandise and also entice back to school shoppers with some lower priced items. I would be sad if our Kohls closed. It's not the same as it was before covid, that's for sure. And the addition of the beauty store has not been a positive thing in my opinion. It took up a lot of space and now selections of many other things is not so great. We have another large beauty store almost right next door! We don't have that many stores close by these days, so I would hate to lose this one.

If you don't carry a balance...then the higher interest rate wouldn't matter. Doesn't affect anyone who pays their bills in full each month.

Closing an account does ding your credit report. That doesn't always matter depending on your situation, but even Insurance companies check your credit report and will use it to raise rates.

I didn't get any notice about the Kohls charge changing. I already have a Capital One CC so I don't need another. I rarely use the Kohls charge. Will wait and see what happens.

Just checked my Kohls charge online and saw this notice:

Upcoming changes to your Kohl's Card account. Between September 2024 and March 2025, the online servicing of your account will update to Capital One. You'll be notified via email or mail as to when your account will be transitioned.

I had read about Kohls going to Capital One so I called and cancelled my card.

My thinking is Kohls is on its way out as well. I have been looking for months for my favorite Croft and Barlow capri's and they are no longer selling them. In fact, our kohls has very little in the C&B line and it is their own line of clothing ???

One of the local stores has two floors, absolutely huge and there are nothing but mark down items. The salesclerk told me that they're getting all the stores merchandise to sell. idk..time will tell.

I didn't need the temptation and I don't like doing business with a company that charges such a high rate of interest. My husband and I don't worry about our credit rating. It is spotless and we are retired so we don't charge things. I have 10 grandchildren. Except for a few household items I purchased with 30% off coupons, the card was used for birthdays and Christmas.

I shopped at Kohls years ago when they had good selections of sterling jewelry; I bought my daughters many pieces and they also had really good Christmas decor. Haven't been there in years until last Oct to make an Amazon return. I thought for sure they were closing within a few days since it was so empty; I only saw one other customer and she was also making an Amazon return; that may be the only reason the doors are still open for now.

I've been a Kohl's shopper for over 20 years and I have their store card. However, I haven't had any notice that they're transferring to Capital One.

I don't really need another CC (Visa or MC), so I'll decide what to do, when I see how it's going to work.

I'm surprised all customers didn't receive this notice at the same time.

ETA: However, they're recently revamping and updating both of our local stores, so I don't see them closing any time soon.

We have a Kohl’s nearby that I don’t visit very often. When I have an Amazon return I will go. I buy clothes for my grand kids there, but the selection is so bad that I have a hard time putting outfits together. I sometimes buy household items. It has been years since I saw any clothing I wanted for myself. The store is only busy at Christmas, which I guess is normal these days.
