How can I kill no see 'ems if I can't see 'em??

That has to be what they are-we are getting these big bites (bigger than mosquito bites) and we have seen nothing! We think they are in the screened in porch but since we can't see 'em.................And we've never felt them bite-just see their bites. My brother lived in FL and I always thought they were just in FL.

The excessive HEAT this year must have killed off all the insect eggs. First time in ages we have had very few bugs, not even mosquitoes!

@Judaline. Spray the area, especially the floor, where they're troublesome.

My neighbor has talked about "no see 'ems" for years and how they eat her up. I've never had a bite and still don't quite understand what is different from mosquitoes!

But she becomes plauged with welt-like sores. She's miserable a good portion of the summer and into the fall. Beats me why she is bitten and I'm not; we sit on the patio together most evenings! That's when she is bitten. So strange.

ETA: Both of our yards are cared for by the same lawn care company, which mows, trims, sweeps and blows away debris. They also apply granular products and other treatments throughout nine months, which I've always thought kept the bugs, flies and creepy crawlies away. But I'd never heard of no see 'ems until my neighbor began to complain several years ago.

Buy Zevo bug traps for that area and inside your house. I rarely ever see a gnat in my house, but my bug traps are covered with flying insects!

Southern California now has tiny mosquitoes that you usually don’t know are there until after they bite. Larger mosquitoes create a huge welt on me, but these little mosquitoes create a small welt that itches. They also bite equally during the day and the evening and they’ll bite anywhere on your body.

@just bee My GD showed me how she uses new product pimple patch on mosquito bites. Takes away the sting and swelling and next day the bite is healed.

Same here in SoCal. Some people like to use a mosquito fogger, I've been using Perimeter Spray, and also use the fan blowing when I'm on the terrace.

Most insects can't handle the "high winds" of a blowing fan, and no chemicals are involved.

I hate these no see-ums so much!

They just fly in front of my face and anywhere. I hate them as much as the unmentionable larger awful things!

They seem to be attracted to water and light. Well, maybe anything.

I've seen larger flea like things that do seem to bite.

Another not nice thing about summer.

@goldensrbest I 100% agree with using Zevo. I have several of those lights in my house they work so well!! I have the spray for outside around doors, sliders and the garage.

Oh yeah, they are kind of sticky!

I wouldn't mind them if they didn't fly and buzz erratically around!

I get no-see-ums in and outside the house in summer!

We have Zevo traps in the bedrooms and camper and we have an indoor Dyna Trap on the kitchen counter. They all work well.

@monicakm Here in South Carolina, we use that too...but it doesn't last for a year! DH sprays the outside perimeter of the house approximately every 3-4 months--as soon as we start seeing bugs again. It's the best thing we've found for keeping Palmetto bugs out of the house.
