We "inherited" this agent when our former agent retired. Never had contact with her because we just paid our premiums and there has been no interaction with her because there was no "insurance trouble until buying my car".

So we were shocked that we were unable to contact anyone in her office for an entire day. And it was a Monday. We left numerous voice messages throughout the day. And no one got back to us until the next day. We were told they were in a meeting. We tried calling from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Yes, we have to have proof of insurance cards. I was given a piece of paper with "Pennsylvania Financial Responsibility Identification Card" on the top of the paper, before I left the dealership. It expired in less than 2 months. Not sure how dealership Finance guy worked it out. He did not say. He just handed me the paper and said it expired August 1, 2024, so work it out with your agent before then.

@Pecky You got me thinking about how did I get an Insurance Card, so I could walk out of the dealer with my new car?

We were never able to talk to our agent, the day we were picking up my car. The Finance guy was never able to talk to our agent. In fact Finance guy came up to us later in the afternoon and asked if our agent called us back. We said, No.

He walked back to his office. Then about half an hour later. Suddenly all systems were go. Had lots of papers to sign and then given the keys to my car. By then it was 4:30 and everyone was ready to call it a day, especially me.

I wonder if Finance Guy went over our agent and went directly to the home office for State Farm. And that is how he was able to get an insurance card for almost 2 months. And that is why he said, be sure to get with your agent because it expires August 1, 2024. He said it as we were walking out the door to get to my car. So I was thinking more about the car than insurance.

And that may explain why the agent has not been a happy camper with us. She was upset from our first phone car after buying the car. Now Home Office knows her office was not available for an entire day.

@drizzellla He must have gotten through to someone some how to get your id cards. The insurance company should have mailed you the permanent id cards. What a nightmare you went through. I hope things gets resolved for your son.

New Procedures for Car Insurance?

All the sudden our State Farm Insurance Agent wants numerous forms signed. And credit checks made. What is going on?

We have been with this agent's office for 45 years. The original agent retired over 7 years ago. And another agent took over his office. We have our home insurance and cars all with this one agent. We have bought cars during that time - no problem until I got my new car in July.

I had to sign all new forms this week. I thought it was because I bought a new car in June and got the car in July.

But today I am getting calls from State Farm about my former car that my son now drives, I got a new bill yesterday. And they still have the insurance under my name for the car my son now drives. They refuse to put it in his name unless he gets a new credit check. My son has been paying his own insurance for his cars since he was 16 years old. He is now 36. So State Farm has a record of him - paying on time - for 20 years. They now want a credit check on him?!?!?!? Before they will give him insurance? He has had insurance with them for 20 years under his name.

What am I missing?

My car insurance went up $408.....no changes, no tickets, no violations.

According to my agent...All insurance carriers are cracking down, re-evaluating everying and raising prices etc.

She has seen up to $900 more for NO reasons whatsoever.

All of a sudden, after 6 years, they want to do another home inspection.

I'm w/ an Independent agency that has access to other carriers.

We are shopping around.

Most insurance companies base their rates for new customers on your credit score. If your son's credit is low, he's likely going to have to pay more.

They check your credit so that they can determine what rate to give you. For some reason they think that someone with a poor credit score would file more claims. Does not make any sense.

What will they come up with next? I just went with a new Insurance Company and as far as I know they did not check my credit. They would have had to let me know if they did.

Since my husband did not understand why they would not put my son's name on his car insurance, The agent went into overdrive about us signing new forms on all our vehicles.
