ticketmaster data breach

Has anyone one here received a letter regarding a data breach at Ticketmmaster? I received one yesterday, but I don't have an account with them and both my names were spelled incorrectly. I Googled it and there was a breach in April and May. I called them, but I couldn't really understand the lady. It does offer free identity protection thru trueidentity. It says personal info may have been obtained by a third party including name,basic contact info and credit and debit info. I may cancel my credit and debit card and get new ones.

I have not used ticketmaster in probably 20 or more years.

I'm pretty sure I never did and if so, it's probably been that long. I just canceled my credit card.

These settlements usually go to the lawyers first, then state or city officials who spend the money on pet projects of theirs.

There was an announcement about opiod settlelment money in Oklahoma today. ONE town south of us got $1 million. A tobaco settlement the state got long ago funds "don't smoke, or don't drink, or drink water" ads. REALLY useful.

I received the letter from Ticketmaster also. I last used Ticketmaster about 9 years ago, so if they have records of my transactions, my info has all changed.

I think it's a scam... got a letter and never used them.

Son also got a letter to my home... has been married 10 years and has not lived there.

I got the letter, but to be honest, I haven't ordered tickets from them in ages.

I got one and never used them but my son has. I just had a report from Equifax and there's no problem there.
I notified him in case it's a scam and he is checking it.
This is happening quite often so we need to beware of the scams and check our credit.

I got one and so did my husband. It's not a scam.

Ticketmaster has purchased many other companies over the past years and has offered combined packages with others, so they would have customers' info from those companies too.

It could be a venue, a now defunct ticket site, concert promoters, etc. Definitely not a scam and wouldn't show up anywhere on a credit bureau unless someone specifically tried to open an account using one's info. The credit breach notification is required by law and just letting everyone know their info can be out there.

Not a settlement of any kind for a class action lawsuit. The letter from Ticketmaster is a notice of a security breach. Two different things.

I agree with others who don't think it's a scam, but I'm not signing up for the program they offer. AT&T also had a big data breach. I'm sick of these issues. Keep our info safe, please!!!

Don't think you are safe from harm because nothing happens in a few months or even more because the crooks can keep and sell our info for years. Keep an eye on your financial statements, accounts, etc.

It is not a scam. I heard this on my local news as well. My DH got the letter. This has got to be the 4th breach for us in two years.

I couldn't imagine I had used them in forever when I got the letter but I was able to sign into an account with saved info on my computer. Turns out I bought tickets for the track 6 and 8 years ago. Usually don't purchase tickets for there so now I remember it was for special circumstances.

So yes if you got the letter you probably have an account you forgot about and purchased for some event that uses them.
