Amazon Question

You know when you're checking out and it gives you a choice for later shipping, but you get everything in one box? Supposedly you get 6% off ELGIBLE items if you choose that option. How does one know what items are elgible? I often choose that option because I'm not in a big hurry and one box is simpler, but I've never seen my price drop. Are they applying it to your CC points, or is it just that nothing I'm buying is one of those elgible items? Inquiring minds and all.

The price does not drop. Instead of earning 5% on eligible purchases you get 6% and you'll be able to apply it to a later purchase. You'll see it near the bottom of the box where the payment info is. You let it accumlate or use it as soon as amazon posts it to your account.

It's 6% BACK instead of 5% when you use your amazon Visa Rewards Card and applies only to items shipped by amazon. Click on "Details" link to see what it's all about.

If you go to your account and look under Your Payments, you will see Current Rewards Balance under Wallet. It will show you the points you accrued.

Okay, that's what I meant by applying it to my CC points. So, it's just 1% more. No biggie. I've never really even tried to keep track of them. I just use them every once in awhile. I try to save them up for something nice rather than spending them immediately. I guess I'm a point hoarder, LOL. I like it better than before when you got a discount off Prime music or something like that. I never used that.

Earning an extra 1% adds up especially with big ticket purchases.

The 6% back is only for a limited time. Expires at the end of this year.

That is what they are doing when you choose no big hurry. Amazon is not very clear on their promotions. Your products are not discounted, they are giving you rewards based on your purchase. It is similar to the cashback sites.

Rather than using my points on a purchase and not getting points on it, I put it on my credit card.

I transfer my points/cashback to my statement balance.

We save up our points with Amazon. We use them at Christmas time to purchase gifts. Did not have to pay for any gifts last year.
