Do you have house cleaning help?

I don't because I'm still able to do my own housework and our home is a small ranch style. However with neck surgery coming up and six weeks of physical restrictions, I'm thinking about it. Maybe one thorough cleaning before my surgery date, and a couple times during my recovery period.

No I don't--have never had that luxury--my apt is very small so it only takes maybe an hour to clean up. Would prob think about it if I were physically laid up for awhile and I was in a house.

No, I never have. My husband helps a lot and always has, and now he is newly retired, so he does most of the household chores....I still work fulltime.

No, I have only my husband to help out. I have, though, been thinking about it but the last person we had banged up my furniture with vacuuming aggressively and she dented up my end tables. 😳

I don't nor have I ever had a housecleaner. I still do it all but I will admit it does get more difficult and seems to take me a bit longer to get through it as time passes. DH does the outside of the window washing which of course is a huge job in itself. I worry more about him than myself as he is 8 years older than me.

@smoochy Doing or having done a nice extensive cleaning prior to surgery is most likely a good idea. I do the same prior to vacations as there is nothing worse than coming home to a dusty house! I would do that and see how your recovery goes and call someone in if and when needed. I wish you the best with your surgery!

No since it is just me so not much to do daily or weekly. But with a health matter I would certainly make arrangements for help. I cannot abide a dirty floor so I sweep and mop my kitchen floor nightly. Just cannot stand to step on something since I am always barefoot indoors.

Hope things go well for you and do not worry about the dust or dishes.

The main thing right now is your peace of mind during recovery. For sure you don't want to overdo and cause problems.

So if there is no one in the household to pick up the slack, then it is an excellent idea.

For me, I would do it.

thanks so much. My restrictions will include resting, no bending or twisting, reaching and pretty much every motion you would use when cleaning house 😬

I do have a great team of ladies who clean the house every other week. We are pretty tidy in between. I told myself that when I retired, I was not going to spend the rest of my life cleaning my house. We downsized and moved to a much smaller home.

To think that in my working days I cleaned a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home from top to the basement, every single week. Exhausting to think about it now!

That would be a No...I'm off today, so after I finish this coffee and checking email and stuff, I'm gonna start up on the third floor and work my way down. We have a home gym up there so just floor dusting, etc.

Second floor, bathrooms which I hate doing. Floor dusting and swiffering too. I don't have any carpets to vacuume.

First floor, not much except for swiffering the floors, some dusting. I typically do a task a day when I come home for lunch from work. I use that hour to do a lot so I'm not bogged down all day with chores.

If I did have a cleaning service it would be a waste because I would be going behind them anyway to make sure they didn't leave a speck of anything. Yes, I'm that kind of cleaner. You could eat dinner off my floors 🤣...just kidding

I do have a wonderful supportive and helpful husband. But he works four days a week at a physical outdoor job in the Florida heat. The man needs to relax when he gets home. Also his idea of cleaning is quite different than mine. He isn't going to clean the bathrooms I guarantee you.You know how we women see what needs to be done and a lot of men don't. Haha

When I had gall bladder surgery with a drainage bag I had help from Angi. Worth it to me.

@Trinity11 No matter how much preaching I do about being careful with that, they all do it. My nice furniture and I have all wood, not sawdust wood, and they all have done it. I use that old English furniture polish on the bottoms of the legs. I have to have help. My husband is invalid and I have several health issues. I have help once or twice per month. My house is not huge, 2300-2400 square feet and I have at least an acre of lawn that has to be mowed and several flowerbeds that need weed-eating, so I have to have help. I am not and don't plan to be superwoman. I cook 3 meals a day, vacuum-sweep my public area, wash dishes, wash at least one load of clothes per day and one load of dishes, care for my husband and that's about all I can do.

Best to plan ahead and not wait until you are in the process of surgery or healing to get someone, because you may not get someone. You need to make arrangements beforehand. Housecleaning service is hard to find for a one-time deal or just a couple times. Most of them want regular customers.

YES! I have hired Cleaning help in the far back past, when I was exercising, then working from 3am thru to at least midnight. Sometimes even this work regimen for 24 hrs, straight thru even. (I was a "workaholic")

Then, when those work hrs stopped, completely, (medical reasons), I went back to cleaning my own place, kind of immaculately, that's the kind of environment & hard work I was expecting & preferred.

I've tried to keep up & some parts successfully, but not all parts.

Now, last few yrs, more & more, age & medically, isnt possible to have a totally clean home the way I wld like it. (Some have called it an OCD issue with me. oh well) So reluctantly, I feel being forced to look for, hire new cleaning help. Age & infirmity is just forcing me.

I sure wish I did. I'd also love to find one of those professional organizers to help with my closets.😃
