Price of ink cartridges

I need to replace both black and the tri color cartridges for my HP Printer.

Holy smokes, the tri color alone is $79.00!!! Has anyone ever purchased used a generic cartridge? thanks

I get my HP ink from Walmart. I only need the black ink and it's $24.

Check Walmart.

@SilleeMee That is where I ususally buy it, they are out. Associate could not even find where they carried it anymore.

Amazon is where I found I could order I am wondering about buying generic.

I used to buy from SPEEDYINKS on amazon. They have a store there. They've been around a long time. The problem I had with their ink was the cartridges were either really good or really bad, hit or miss. I needed something more reliable. They sell in multiples so that's a help.

We haven't had good luck with trying generic or off-brand.

We tend to stay with the HP brand for our HP printer.

When we've used an off-brand, the printer recognizes it and will give a constant error message, like "the printer is out of paper," even when its not! LOL!

We tend to buy the extra-large size HP ink cartridges, as those tend to last longer.

If you have a Sam's Club membership, sometimes you can get them there together in a 2 pack--one black and one color--for a bit of a price break.

Yes, I have an HP printer & use generic HP print cartridges both black and color cartridges. HP is gauging customers. The generic I bought on Amazon a while back work great. Don't be gauged by these greedy companies.

LUVtoner has worked really well for me. I had to start purchasing generic because the manufacturer had stopped making cartridges for my printer. It's not an HP, but I have had two of those. I have been more pleased with LUVTONER than the OEM cartridges I used to use. OOPS, it may be lovetoner. They have a website or can be purchased THROUGH walmart. Be careful though if ordering from walmart because I ordered the second time from them and it distinctly said Lovetoner. It was not, and one of the color cartridges had leaked. These cartridges for me have lasted so much longer than the manufacturer one and I have been very pleased with the quality.

have used generic before and it was always a disaster in the long run.

a few years ago i stopped and now only use the brand name.

I pay $20 for a black ink cartridge for my Canon printer. I don't need/use clor cartridges. The black cartridge prints 400 pages, so a cartridge lasts a long time.

I have an Epson printer and the ink cartridges is expensive.

I buy from Amazon and pay $77 for three color and one black cartridge that comes in a set. It's the same price as if I purchased from an office store nearby.

A couple of years ago, I tried a generic brand ink for this printer and the ink ruined my printer. One time using generic and I had to buy another printer.

Never again buying generic and should have known better.

We tried generic for our HP color printer, and they did not work. We got in a bit of a discussion with the seller, but in the end they gave us our money back, probably figuring to avoid a negative review. My recommendation is to not buy a color printer, unless you really need it.

As I recall, by the time we got the black and the colors, came out to something like $300 for the HP cartridges

ink jet printers are huge money pits

laser jet lasts forever....current toner cartridge is 3+ yrs old and i use the printer almost daily

i do not need color but they do have color laser jets

the actual printer is a hp p1606dn.....well over 10 yrs old.......if/when it dies they have same printer in wireless which i will replace it with

wow at the money i have not spent on ink and throw away ink jet printers

Years ago I learned that one way to consider pricing when buying a printer is to check how many copies you get from each toner cartridge, among other things.

I love my HP laser cartridges, buying them from sellers on Ebay that have a high number of sales, so you know they aren't a fly-by-night person, although Ebay also has the Buyer protection thing.

My replacement black and white HP toner cartridge at Staples is almost $100 and I just paid $19 on Ebay for a generic with free shipping. It works GREAT, so you may want to take the time and do a little research.

The markup on toner is just OUTRAGEOUS.

Buy a new HP printer that offers free ink with their Instant Ink program. I get

free ink when my cartridges run out and 15 free prints per month.

Additional sheets cost only a dollar or so more. I am locked in at 15. It is a great

program. I stopped paying outrageous ink prices several years ago and won't

go back.

I use HP instant ink. I pay $9.99 per month and have both color and black sent before I need it. The printer is connected to WiFi so they know when it's about to run out. The 9.99 plan gets me 100 pages per month, but they are times that increase or decrease my plan depending on what's going on at work. I've had it for about 10 years and will never change.

@Tori3569 Yes, I also have the Instant Ink Program with my HP Printer and I love it. My plan is $6.95/month and, as was mentioned, I get new ink delivered when the internet tells them I need it before I run out.

I don't do a lot of printing and always ended up cartridges that stopped working. I replaced my printer with a HP Smart Tank (5100 Series) and it has been a dream.

The ink is much more reasonable than the cartridges.

I recommend a new printer and their instant ink program as well. I use to hate buying cartridges because mine usually dried up before I even used them up. With the instant ink program I print more often because I don't have to be "cheap" and it's cheaper in the long run!!

They have plans where you can get a printer/instant ink/instant paper all at a very reasonable monthly fee.

Green box was my last purchase. NO issues with them if you don't mind recycled product.
A wide array of options and the price is good.
