Ants in rolls from Walmart !

we recently bought hot dogs rolls from a Walmart . I took them out ,opened them and out comes ants !! 🐜 eek ! I quickly tied the bag back up again and took them outside to the trash can . I couldn't believe it , now I don't know if it was from the manufacturer or where Walmart stored them. I have never come home with ants in anything till now . Think I will buy bread products elsewhere at least for the summer. They had made there way to other breads in our pantry where they were stored as well . Good thing after tossing they are totall gone ! Strange thing.

A few years ago, my grandson was staying over for a few days. We went to Walmart and he wanted powdered sugared donut holes.

I bought some that were in a plastic clam shell. At home, I put them in the cupboard.

After dinner, about an hour later, my grandson, tried to get at those donut holes. Unfortunally, the whole clamshell was full of ants and we had to toss them.

I don't know if they were already in the donuts when we bought them or if the ants were in my cupboard.

I took everything out of the cupboard and washed it. I never had ants in there again.

I imagine ants can get into anything, anywhere. They're difficult to keep out once they find a way in.

@Carmie that is definitely true . Last y summer they were around our cats food bowls and no matter what we tried it was so hard to get rid of them . We moved the dishes from one area to another but they still found them .

finally after spraying etc which wasn't easy as we couldn't use anything toxic we did get rid of them.

@Kitty Galore, if you should ever run into an ant situation again put the food dishes in a bowl or pan with about 1/2 inch of water. Cats can still eat, ants won't enter the water.

(Unless they are those particularly problematic, scary ants that turn leaves into rafts and float across water. Then you are on your own.)

For some reason, ants have been terrible this year. I'm surprised there haven't been other complaints.

@Marp thank you ! will definitely try that if it happens again .

i didn't realize ants won't go into water , it makes sense though . I certainly hope I don't ever get ants that will have rafts and float 😹😹

I just had a huge ant on my sofa. I flicked it off. We couldn't find it. A few minutes later, it was back on the arm of my sofa. Hubby grabbed it with a tissue & threw it away. I go into the kitchen it is sitting on the the lid of the trash can. I grab it with a napkin & throw it away again.

Isn't this a horror movie?!

(I haven't seen it again)

@september yes that product isn't coming home with me again ! It may not be the product could be where it was stored before putting on the shelve , but still...

Warmer temperatures, widespread drought conditions and more people around to supply food for the ants.
