Alec Baldwin Case Repercussions

In Albuquerque, we get get lots daily updates from the trial's repercussions, more that we want to hear. It appears that everyone is suing everyone else to the point where it may become a new industry. Some are suing more than one entity.

Today, Baldwin announced he is suing the prosecutor and the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department. Attorney Gloria Allred has announced she's filed a civil suit against Baldwin on behalf of the family of the woman who was killed; it goes on and on, probably for years.

I thought Halyna's family had already sued Baldwin and settled with him.

I think he just offered to pay for funeral and gave them money as well.

@Icegoddess - That's what I read as well, way back after it happened. And, at the time, her husband said he was satisfied with whatever settlement they had agreed on.

I guess a lawyer can always convince someone that there's more money to be gained. Especially for the lawyers.

Alec should thank his lucky stars that he didn't get prosecuted. He should count his blessings and go home and impregnate his wife for the eighth time and forget about lawsuits.

@Kachina624 @Venezia @qvcfreak There was a settlement and Halyna's husband became Executive Producer of the movie. The rest of the settlement has not been disclosed. Maybe that was just a settlement with her husband and this is famly in general, her son, maybe her parents if they're still alive.

Allred represents Hutchins’ parents and her sister, all of whom live in Ukraine.

She dropped the original case in California, amended it and refiled in New Mexico.

Baldwin settled with Halyna's husband and children shortly after the event.

From an article March 2023:

Baldwin and the other producers announced a settlement of the family's wrongful death lawsuit in October 2022. The terms, finalized in March 2023, provided for completion of “Rust” and payments to the Hutchins estate, including insurance funds and a portion of the profits

Matthew Hutchins, widower of Halyna Hutchins who was killed on set, will be an executive producer on film, the statement adds.

“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed. The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work,” Hutchins said in a statement.

Gloria Allred doesn't take a case she can't win. I lived in So CA and used to see her at lunch everyday since she worked in my building. She's a force of nature to be reckoned with. One tough lady....there's a reason she's took this case. Well we'll find out soon enough

Lawsuits may sound frivolous but they keep the ground even and why should Alec get away murder. He's been an Actor a long time and knows the routine by now

One of the reasons civil charges are filed is as a means to finding the truth.They're not always about the money. Some file so that information is obtained, put on the record, and available for the public to see...a way to lay facts out that haven't yet, and now will never, come out in a criminal trial. It's about accountability. I wonder if that's not a large part of the motivation of Hutchins' Ukrainian family.

I think Baldwin's motivation is money and vindictiveness.

I always thought this case was fishy. It was clearly an accident, horrible accident.

If I was Baldwin, I'd sue too. He may still lose on the civil suit. If I was the woman who was already found guilty (pled?), I'd look into getting a lawyer to help based on Baldwin's case.
