Wildfire Flooding Again

We had a torrential downpour. There has been significant flooding from the burn scars. I am posting photos of what happens when it rains on burn scars.

The National Guard just drove past with people who were rescued. They are seated in the back of those huge truck things you see used in floods. There were two of them. A helicopter is flying overhead.

This is the State Highway 48 (street name Mechem) going north out of the village.

There are so many disasters going on in our country, one doesn't know which one to tune to to read about first.

Poor Houstonians with no electricity and no AC in that horrid steam bath of a climate. At least an army of electrical workers have assembled to help.

@Kachina624 My Neice lives just outside Huston and she got her power back this am. I was so relieved to hear that.

Holy Cow!! That burn scar flooding is terrifying. I am definitely wary of any water problems. Totally scary to me. We spent $10K this year getting our creek crossing and driveway fixed due to so much rain compromising our crossing. It has rained so much the past two years that the creek has actually flooded over our crossing because the rains are so heavy and over filling the creeks. Our crossing (culvert I think?) is bigger, stronger and safer now.

@On It The horrible hits just keep on coming! That is so terrifying to see and I will continue to pray for all who have been impacted by this situation as well as all of those impacted by the other natural disasters happening right now...just heartbreaking 😢

@Kachina624 I just talked to a friend of mine in Houston and they are still without power. Well, power has not been restored in his neighborhood yet, but he has a whole house generator and is getting by. So much weather misery everywhere!

@On It Scary. It seems like one disaster after another. Extreme heat, wildfires, flooding. The first responders must be exhausted.

We had a story on our local news a few days ago that a squad of firefighters made up of volunteers from various departments around our state were heading out your way to help with the flooding and wildfires.

@Estellee We just got back from Starbucks. We know the village and avoid low-lying areas. We have to use the longer routes around flooded areas, but it is not an issue.

Some areas along the river and creeks are absolute disasters. They are letting residents of the Upper Canyon which is narrow and has the river running through it back into their homes to retrieve personal items from 6:30 am to 9:00. They must leave at 9:00 am as storms are expected about 10:00. Many homes were lost yesterday along the river.

Flooding has begun again in the area, Wednesday, July 10. Highway 70 that connects Roswell to Alamogordo has been shut down. They are now closing Highway 48 (Mechem) at Sudderth. That is a major traffic nightmare.
