I absolutely hate them. I can't stand what they do to poor little animals. I hunkered down with my kitties last night. They scare me when it's a loud boom unexpected. It feels like my heart skips a beat. I dread the Fourth of July and New Years Eve every year. Just had to vent.😔. Sorry, not sorry 😞.

Whenever I go to a fireworks display, I always take cotton to put in my ears. The "bombs bursting in air" shake me up!

I really wish that they would be outlawed here in PA again. I enjoy the commercial displays but I really dislike that one done in the backyards. We have a neighbor that insists on setting them off and it causes issues with the other neighbor's horses, goats, dogs and chickens. Our cats are not happy with them but as soon as we shut windows and doors they calm down. I feel so badly for the veterans that suffer with PTSD. . . and for farmers with their livestock.

Shooting off fireworks is illegal where I live but tell that to the people who set them off. It was mentioned on the local news over and over again plus it was also mentioned to call the police if you hear or see fireworks. Then they said, in so many words, don't hold your breath for the troops to show up to put out the fireworks...they have other more important things to do. I hate fireworks, too.

I enjoy backyard fireworks & when they start I simply tell my cat everything is OK, nothing is going to hurt us....I'm not stressed so she's not stressed & I tell her the same with thunder & lighting.

Typically NY is awful at my location, J4 with minimal fireworks. Not this go around. Nope, it sounded like a war zone here last night, from about 7pm to just past MN.

It had me particularly worried, since we're in a drought situation. I was afraid they might ignite some of the dry grasses/weeds, and foliage all around us.

Common sense seems to be lacking, more and more, these days. Of course, booze doesn't help. I'm sure there were several of these genius, intoxicated rocket launchers, partaking.

I love fireworks but only presented by professional trained people who had a business to do so and at a designated site that your local government has approved. Some of the fireworks in my state are illegal but people travel and buy them in other states.

The ones that are bought at the little firework stands are only legal in my state and they are okay most are not even that loud so I am okay with those in your backyard. However, I agree with the loud ones should not be allowed in backyards to scare animals and small children, not to mention the danger of fires.

Fireworks have always been illegal where I live until a couple of years ago, they made it legal again.

Why, I'll never know.

I detest them. Other than the better, well-funded displays, it's hard to imagine anyone over the age of 10 being impressed by them. Even among the more professional displays, if you've seen them then you've seen them. Not something I feel the need to revisit. The noise, the smoke, the stink, and the fear they engender, so not worth it.

I enjoy professional fireworks shows, but agree that unless it is a very special version with unusual types, if you've seen one, you've seen them all. I'm looking forward to a time when fireworks are replaced by clever drone shows.

Fireworks never bothered our dogs....I guess we were lucky in that respect.

I love firework displays and some of my neighbors will shoot them off in the open space behind some of our yards. They were pretty spectacular last night!

I would probably feel differently if they bothered my pets.

Fireworks that go up more than 10ft or are louder than a cap pistol are illegal in my town.....ha, ha, ha, ha. So says the cop doing a PSA who admits they've never cited a single person yet the place sounds like East Beruit.

It's nice that various towns and cities have fire work dispalys for their communities, however I find it dangerous to many homeowners . Over the last 2 nights, had neighbors who set off fire work displays in their yards . We have had a hot drought over the last few weeks, so fire hazard is up in my area. People who set off fire works when the area is so dry puts many surrounding home owners at risk of fire.

The pyrotechnics are dicey enough, but sorry, never going to understand supposed adults, even mouth-breathers, getting a kick out of things simply because they make noise. Go figure.

I like fireworks, also. Just not every night for weeks. Someone down the street likes to set off M80s at 2 AM.

The official city display always sets the hill on fire. This time there were 4 fires. People yell and complain during years when it’s been cancelled.

Thanks for the responses. I get that people, especially families with younger children, like to celebrate and this is part of our culture.

Part of what makes me angry is that NC supposedly does not allow any aerial fireworks except for low to the ground bottle rockets, sparklers etc. The last few years everyone has decided they are pyrotechnics and all the surrounding neighborhoods try to see who can out do the next guy.

We live in a rural area and we have a meadow that has deer and other wildlife. I just can't believe how inconsiderate people have become of others. There were surrounding townships that had permits to put on these displays. They could have seen those instead. It has been extremely dry here also, so that made me nervous as well.

I don't mind them to a certain point, but last night was over the top. I've literally never heard fireworks like last night. It sounded like a war zone for several hours starting at around 6.

The kids don't mind it but my dogs were terrified, even though I did everything recommended by vets to calm them.

We didn't have many fireworks going off last night and they were in the distance and drowned out by our fan but it was still enough to where my dog had to sleep on top of me.

Poor guy....we're both tired and grumpy today.....Ba hum bug

Last night wasn't too bad here...surprisingly. Like @GingerHead mentioned, our fans drowned them out too. Plus, my house is way out in the country and I really don't have any close neighbors.

I like seeing the big, pretty ones, but I hate the firecrackers and ones that just screech and boom! The fireworks legal in my state aren't very good. However, I only live 11 miles out of Tennessee, so everyone here drives over the border to buy them.

As a child, my dad always set them off for the kids. Afterwards, he was always very careful to make certain he hosed off the roof and surrounding areas just to make sure nothing could catch on fire. He's always been hyper alert to fire prevention.
