Its HOT out there

At a hotel on Long Island while my home is renovated, even sitting at the pool is little relief. Hope it starts to cool off soon

I'm glad DH and I decided to cancel our trip to NYC this week. I hate the hot weather!!

Here in the PITTSBURGH area we are under what they're calling a heat dome. It's been in the low to mid 90's all week with no relief in sight until early next week. And it's humid! We have a pool but I'm not even going out today. Hiding in the AC.

We are at our beach house in Rehoboth Beach Delaware. It has been breezy and actually a little chilly on the beach this week. However, today's beach day has been ruined by the president. He has a house here and is staying here today and tomorrow. The beach near his home is closed for his personal use so the state park beach where we go is taking the overflow. With that and the fact today is a federal holiday the state park was full to capcity by the time we got there at 12:30.

Come to Arizona where it will be 100-115 until September. At least we don't have humidity. It's actually not bad out there. At 11:30 it's only 94.

@Meowingkitty. While it's been in upper 90s in Albuquerque, my friends visiting from Boston are glad they're here where there's little humidity.

We rode the tram Monday to the crest of the Sandia Mountains where it was breezy and chilly.

We went jewelry shopping.

I have been melting in Georgia for weeks. Even the deer are in the creeks at the park to cool off.

@ninjawife we are in OCMD at our beach "closet". Its gorgeous on the beach today. Just came in for lunch. We are riding up to Rehobeth later this evening as we have friends that have a place off Wilmington Ave. And if you are near the North Shore area where the President has his home, wow lucky you. Those are multi-million dollar homes. And the beach is cordoned off not for his personal use but for safety as it would be for any other high ranking official. We love Rehobeth but it has gotten cost prohibitive.

I do not have a home in the North Shore area which is why we use the state parks for beach access. All of Gordons Pond is closed today b/c Joe is there. They did not close the entire beach when he was a senator or when he was vice president so they do not close the beach for any high ranking official.

CT's hot today. But I've seen it worse.

Was outside actually planting pots just now on my deck...and though the hottest sun doesn't hit my deck this time of day..it wasn't unbearable. Was hotter this morning when I tried to plant, when sun was directly hitting me then. I'm near the shoreline and on a river...we have some breezes going on today...albeit warm ones!

Heading to Maine tomorrow through the weekend....so we'll see how it is up there! It's an annual family trip...some years we got some rain, clouds, cool temps....I'd rather have this. Full fledged summer's ok by me. It's so short-lived and fleeting here, I just enjoy this time of year in all it's incarnations. Always say...I'd much rather be complaining about the heat than the cold and snow!

That said....I'm grateful for air conditioning!! Everyone, stay safe, drink plenty of water too. (note to self)

@ninjawife It is the Secret Service's call as to what is closed and what is not closed when an official with SS protection visits different areas.

They know this area well now so the call for certain security measures would be known.

If the official is traveling to any area, an advance team of Agents go before the visit to map out what particular areas of concern need to be addressed.

It is their call.

Anyway Friday should be an improvement, still quite warm but not as brutal. Stay well everyone!

@LindaSal that always puzzled me when people would say that. Like would you stick your head in the oven for any length of time.

It's 85 in Williamsburg, VA, but will increase to the 90s over the weekend. Friday, 91, Saturday 96, Sunday, 98:and continuing the next week!
My air conditioner is doing fine but when serviced several parts need replacing. I have the earliest appointment tomorrow morning since it will take several hours.
I only have one unit so I hope it will come back on properly. I don't open windows due to humidity, pollen and allergies.
My granddaughter and 4 great grandkids are all coming this weekend from South Dakota. Town is full of tourists as are parking lots.
It's extremely dry, no rain in sight. I'm watering shrubs as much as possible. And a bluebird is nesting in a window box. I gave the birds cool water. They love it!

Time to go back to your room and crank the AC down low. Read a book, watch TV, whatever, but stay inside. That's how we Southerners get through the summer - AC, AC and more AC !

Thats what I did and we took a small trip to Stop and Shop for lunch items

Don't know how farmers and road crews can work outside all day. When I was a kid, we'd bale hay between 1 and 5 pm in the hottest part of the day. We'd sometimes unload the wagons in the morning when it was cooler.
