Juneteenth holiday tomorrow. Some stuff is closed.

I logged into my checking account about a half hour ago to see if a check had cleared and my deposit was there. Always thankful to see it.

Last week ours were 2 days early. It was deposited on the 10th instead of the 12th.

Mine is also supposed to be deposited the third Wednesday of the month but my bank usually deposits it the weekend before.

My vote is that all fed holidays except July 4th should be on a Monday. It's just too difficult for financial reasons to be in the middle of the week. And it doesn't give workers much since there is no long weekend.

@SharkE Amazing SS still issues checks. From Day 1 I have done direct deposit and wouldn't have it any other way.

Some banks (including ours) credits paychecks and SS checks 2 days early, so we already had ours before today.

My SS check is normally deposited on the third day of the month, If the third falls on a Saturday or Sunday the check is always deposited on Friday.

When I started receiving benefits as a widow, payments were made on the third of the month. Later when I started receiving benefits from my own account, I had the choice of staying on the third or switching to my birth date which is the sixth. Since there wasn't much difference I stayed with the third.

How is the payment date determined now?

@Sooner So we would no longer celebrate Christmas on December 25, or New Years on January 1 and Thanksgiving would be on a Monday instead of a Thursday. I doubt seriously that this will ever happen. At least I hope not!

Often, if you have vacation time, you can make a longer weekend out of a holiday. Many take the Friday after Thanksgiving, giving them a 4 day weekend instead of a 3 day weekend. I think some businesses may even give their employeees that Friday. I've always worked for a Govt contractor so our holidays were the same as Federal Government holidays.

@Katrinka23 Maybe it's by your birthday. Mine falls near the end of the month and I get my SS deposit on the 4th Wednesday.

The date of your birth determines when you receive your SS payment. My BD is the 24 and my husband's is the 23 so we both receive our SS payment on the 4th Wednesday. His bank makes the deposit several days in advance. Mine doesn't.
