CAR TROUBLE UPDATE 😃

As some of you might remember, I had an appointment with the car dealership to install a new sensor for the passenger door. It kept lighting up as being ajar when it wasn't.

After waiting 6 hours for a repair I was told would take 1 hour, my car was returned to me with the sensor installed in the wrong door! 😡

I was promised the correct sensor would be ordered and installed free of charge, but I had my doubts...especially since I'd paid around $600 the first time round, mostly on labor considering the actual part cost only $52. Plus, I had to keep calling to check if the correct sensor had arrived lol.

It's amazing how much faster they were able to do the same exact job today! I did receive my car back, correct door sensor fixed in about an hour! I couldn't believe it! I guess whenever they're redoing work they're not being paid for Again, it can be done in a reasonable time frame!😃

@cheriere it's like having the driver's side tire replaced when it's the driver's passenger side tire that's almost flat.

@cheriere,

I would hope they would give you a credit for all that wasted and mistaken labor and wait. I would ask. That is just crazy.

But I know you have a lot of more things to do too and maybe just glad it's finally fixed.

That's a very good and valid point! If it were any other time I sure would make a big deal about it. I'm just so worn out I didn't feel like the hassle. Like you said, I'm thrilled it's actually fixed.❤️

Or having the wrong body part operated on! 😳 Well, I've read stories where that could happen. Glad you had a fast visit today and problem solved!

They should have refunded the 600 minus the cost of the part. They definitely took advantage of you.

@cheriere - I agree that you should do something about the labor charge for the previous time. There is no way it takes 6 hours one time, but only an hour the next. Especially when you were told an hour to begin with.

It wouldn't hurt to write a letter to the head of the dealership and copy it to your State Attorney General's Office. That usually gets their attention!

The Attorney General is there to make sure people don't get taken advantage of like that. Who knows how many other customers they've done that to?

It doesn't take that long to write a simple letter outlining the facts. Hundreds of dollars overcharged???

(ETA: Find a different garage for the future!)

I thought the same thing. Yesterday, I was just to worn out and tired from being on the road everyday to say much of anything. However, that may change.

I think I may just write that letter. I already told the manager I would no longer be bringing my car back there because of the time and cost.

Im sure they're pulling this same routine on most of their customers. The letter and a copy of both statements should definitely get someone's attention.

@cheriere - I think what would be fair is to ask them to adjust the bill: the cost of the part and one hour's labor. For them to refund the difference.

You can point out the inconvenience of your wasted time and having to make a second trip. Keep it simple and reasonable. And put it in writing.

@cheriere I'm very glad that you got your car door sensor fixed ! I agree with the other posters- I think that you should get your money back and write that letter to them. They were were lazing around for 6 hours when they were ultimately able to do it in one hour. Nobody messes with Cheriere! You can do it!

The only time I take my car back to the dealer is for something covered by a warranty or if there was a recall.

I have a locally owned shop I trust. Still, before I show up there, I do a bit of research. Playing dumb works in some situations, but not when buying a car or having it inspected.

As if you don't have enough on your plate right now, but as they say, "when it rains. it pours.😢

I wasn't going to suggest you make a "stink" if this dealer was your only option in town, but since you have decided you will no longer do business with them, I say fight the good fight! I always use a credit card that has my back when disputing charges.

I hope your mom is recovering with less and less pain everyday. And I hope you are taking care of yourself. 💕

I've had such a crazy month! It seems like we've had appointments or something to do everyday. I hate to admit it, but I might just live and learn from this lesson. I'm just too worn out to haggle lol. I have talked to a local mechanic in our neighborhood though. He'll be working on it from now on.😃

It sure has been a crazy month! There's been something to do or going on almost everyday. I'm too worn out to make a big deal over it now. I guess this will be one of those live and learn lessons for me. I won't ever be taking it back to the dealership though.

I appreciate your asking about mom. She sure is having a difficult road to recovery. The X-rays last week showed that the bone was trying to fuse to the wrong bone. That explains why she's still in so much pain.

They recast it, so I guess we'll see what happens this week.❤️

Its good that you have great spirits and are moving forward after the frustrating experience with the previous car repairman.
