CAR TROUBLES 😡

Well, I had an appointment at the car dealership this morning at 9am to get an oil change and a sensor replaced. The left passenger door kept showing Ajar, when it really wasn't.

Anyways, I just NOW got home! When I arrived at 8:50am, I was told this would take one hour to complete. Almost 6 hours later, when I got into the car, the passenger door Ajar light was STILL lit up! I was told that the mechanic put a sensor in the driver door instead, even though the work order specifically said Passenger Door, as well as the Big Red Light on the dash!

So, it didn't get fixed because they have to order one for the passenger door, but they'll call lol. I also asked how long it would take this time? I was told two hours...I guess I should expect 12, who knows? Plus, the part cost $51, but I still had to pay $465 for labor today! I'm just exhausted.😩😡

@cheriere. Incompetence prevails! Nothing less fun than wasting a day sitting around an auto repair facility. Even more so when they mess up.

Thanks for understanding. I guess I just needed to vent a minute. I just don't understand how on earth they didn't notice this? There's no telling what really gets fixed incorrectly or not at all that we don't know about! Plus, my dads convinced that an electrical short could catch on fire, so he doesn't want the car in the garage tonight.

I have no idea what is going on with car dealers.

My son's car was totaled when he hit a deer. He needed a car to get to work. SO good old Mom lost her car and son got her car.

He looked for about a month and could not find a smallish car that were in his request wants. The lots that used to be filled with new and used cars seem to be empty. He did find a 20 year old Corolla car for $8,000. But he said the car looked beat and he said that by the time he went to look at it, the car was sold.

They said the car dealers are having trouble getting parts and new cars.

So we decided that I would get a new car. WELL, I have been waiting for over 2 months. I still don't have my car. And no word from the dealer when I MIGHT get the car. This huge car dealer had no new Corolla cars on their lot. And after I put the money down on "my" car the dealer would have 3 cars to sell in the next 2 months.

I don't know what is going on.

@cheriere I bet the dealership was calling around trying to find your part. We are still dealing with the window not working on the passenger side of my husband's vehicle. Been back to the dealer 2 times. They kept replacing the parts on the drivers side. My husband finally just gave up.

I wouldn't have either! At first, I thought it kinda sounded silly. But, after he explained it, kinda makes sense. I sure wouldn't wanna take the chance.❤️

@cheriere UGH!!!!! Nothing worse than getting socked for $500 and still not fixed. Since they replaced the wrong door sensor you would think they should compensate you for this. We used to ALWAYS take our cars to the dealership until we found a local mechanic shop that is not only trustoworthy and reasonably priced but they also know what they are doing! Hard to find those shops these days.

I am not into dealerships.. IMHO, they rake you over the coals and rarely are reliable. I have had great luck with small owned garages that did a great job and reasonable prices. This is my experience.

I would talk to the service manager. You should not have to pay for a part that did not need to be replaced and should not have pay the labor either. This sounds like a scam. If they will not listen to you, call your state attorney general.

Offer to the dealer that you want them to put your old properly working sensor back in. They will not want to have the mechanic spend more time on the job.

You are not responsible for the mistake he made. I am sorry they wasted your time and took your money without solving the problem.

I would also calling the main manufacturer of your car and report what this deal did. It should not have cost you a cent for their error, it is bad enough they wasted your day.

I'm beyond upset! I had to pay today, the entire bill. However, the guy in charge assured me there would be no additional charges whatsoever. When my dad found out, he told me I'd never hear from them about getting the right part in after he found out I already paid them.

I just didn't know I could leave without paying. Now, he thinks they'll even try to take the new driver door sensor they put in by mistake out! But, I don't see how they could do that.

He also said that these dealerships spend about 15 minutes working on each car and then go to another, so they can charge for a full hour, especially when they see women coming.😡😡😡

You described EXACTLY how this dealership looks, absolutely zero brand new cars and very few of what they had! I'll never buy a Lincoln again! Every part costs at least twice as much and so does the labor!

I feel terrible for your husband having to deal with that. Sounds like we have about the same luck!

Get this, I bought two new tires awhile back and hadn't had them no time whenever one blew out on the interstate. The tire place showed me a tiny wrench that had been inside of the tire since manufacturing! Who does this happen to?

You're so right about that! If and when they get the correct sensor installed I'm finished with the dealership! In fact, I'm finished with this car! I'd never owned a Lincoln hybrid car and foolishly bought this on a whim. It is paid for, but it's too big for me and something is always going wrong with it! Plus, I've never paid so much for car parts, tires and labor as I have since owning this car! Heck, I can't afford to own it lol.

I used to only use a local mechanic. But, after buying a brand I'd never owned before, Lincoln, they didn't have the parts for it. I'll never own another brand like this again. Parts cost too much, so does the service.

@kaydee50 They made the mistake, the labor for the repair should be at no charge and they should give you a loaner while the car is in the shop for the repair. You would pay for the one part originally needed but not the labor to fix the mistake.

Any dealer I've ever gone to would do that without hesitation.

Thank you for these suggestions. I pray they'll keep their end of the bargain and fix the passenger door sensor at no cost. My dad says they'll never do it! If that's the case, I'll definitely do what you suggested. In fact, I'm taking a screenshot of your post. Thank you 😃❤️

Hopefully, I won't need it...but I don't know.

I thought they'd offer a loaner too, but they didn't! My dad says they'll never call me back with the new part and install for no charge. I guess I'll see in a few days. He's going up there with me next time. He would've went today, but his brother needed him to go with him for a driver after surgery.

Just out of curiosity, couldn't the local mechanic order the parts? It would just take longer to fix.
