Another heartbreaking Walmart story.

Today I got a shopping basket and cleaned it, then left it outside the restroom. When I came out there was a little girl about two in the kids seat.
After looking all around, and not seeing anyone I asked her if her mama was in the restroom and pointed to it. She ignored me and showed me her bracelet.
Ladies passing knew the child had been left alone. And shook their heads but kept going. I told her I'd wait for her Mama, Finally she came out with her younger son and put him in the basket (dirty shoes on).
I explained that I noticed her daughter was alone and it had been at least 15 minutes. I told her "someone could have taken her and to please not ever leave her, she would be gone!" The mother listened but didn't seem to understand the seriousness of the situation.
She didn't leave her purse in the cart!
I asked the manager to please mention this to employees and to be aware because a child could end up missing.

Pathetic! She is lucky you stayed with her daughter. I wonder what the home life is like?

Years ago my husband and I were trying to become foster parents. We heated our house with propane, and had a small tank in the garage that fed a furnace, for that reason we did not pass the home inspection test....at the time, and probably still, the state begs for foster parents. Their loss.

Wow, won't leave her purse but would leave her baby girl. SMH.

another story I just encountered yesterday. The lady in front of me at Aldi's had about $22 worth of items in her order. She paid $2 or $3 in bills, then began counting change out for her balance. The cashier was SO patient. I asked if she needed a few dollars to finish her bill. She said no with a snide remark. I don't feel as I acted impatient or anything, but she said, I can certainly pay for my own groceries. Counting one or two nickels/dimes at a time.
Very sad, and I didn't mean to make her feel bad or inadequate. In the end she was about 90 cents short, the cashier just said, it's ok.

I did give him the difference, but she didn't have the coins bagged, just slowly taking them out of the bottom of her purse one by one. I felt bad, but she clearly didn't want help. The guy behind me was not so patient. The cashier said it happens a lot. We are blessed.

We never know what someone deals with daily.

As a child I would always walk off to explore, causing my mother to lose her mind on several occasions. I never understood her reactions. She said "someone could grab you". At that age, I obviously never understood what she meant.

Not defending that woman's actions, but I bet her thinking all the security cameras in any Walmart provided "protection".

I am not defending her either but she probably thought she wouldn't be taking too long in the bathroom. I still don't understand why she didn't take the little girl into the bathroom with her. I have seen women take all of their children into a public restroom.

What the mom did was hardly heartbreaking, let's call it what is which is stupid.

It was a stupid thing to do. Plus she commandeered your shopping cart which was a jerky thing to do.

I've never encountered a person in line who didn't have enough cash. Seldom anyone who pays in cash and they're usually men.

I pay with a cc and still a dd up what's in my cart and round up, so if the total is more, I know the cashier has scanned something twice or an item that's on sale wasn't discounted in the system.

@1Snickers Is it any wonder why child trafficking is so bad around the World? So sad. Walmart has been one of the worst places for child snatching, have read numerous stories. They do lock down the store if it is reported. In this case, I wonder....

It certainly says a lot that she didn't leave her purse! Outrageous!😡

I was that kid too lol. I took off for the toy aisle or to hide under a rack and scare my mom every time. Of course, the world was a lot different back then too.

I would have thought it obvious. The person holding those in line behind her hostage while she counted change was inconsiderate. If I can add up my items before checking out, so could she, count her cash and match the totals.

Beyond rude to wait to count her money until after her items were scanned.

I think that common sense has left the building. So many people are just oblivious to what is happening in our country. I think parents should be required to take parenting classes because the children suffer.

I am glad you stayed with the child. That child has probably been left alone in a cart many times. This is probably the mother's child raising technique. Every person for themselves and good luck in survival. It makes me shake my head and pray the child grows up without being abducted by a lunatic. The mother should have taken the child with her in the restroom. I have seen mothers do it. Let's pray for this child.

We are not in court on a jury. We are given a situation by. the OP and respond to the facts given. There will not be a verdict, only opinion that will affect no one.

@rms1954 Maybe story is the wrong word used. Maybe situation or experience is a better description. These are comments on what people saw and were sharing. What I saw on Monday was not made up it was just a comment on a sad situation I experienced. I was just sharing showing life truly can be hard sometimes. Maybe your life is perfect. Life isn't perfect for everyone. Some people do struggle.
