Spring Snow Storm Thurs 3/14/24

We have gotten our Spring snow here in Colorado, in the southwest metro Denver area we've received about a foot with about that same amount coming later today.

Time to get out and shovel! I keep saying this, better do it ha.

Here's the snow so far. Lots of weighted down branches on other trees not visible in the pic, lots of trees down in the area.

Anyone else with snow today?

Wow @rockygems123 that's a serious snow storm! Be safe out there when you are shoveling especially if there are branches coming down.

Here in NJ we had a March snow storm a few years ago. Heavy wet snow. It broke trees/branches off and took the power lines with them. I could hear the crack as they broke under the weight & called my brother to ask him to be careful if he was outside too. Don't need a branch to fall on you.

We were w/o power for 4 days and since we didn't have a generator, that meant no heat, no water. It was a mess & got darn cold in the house. I went to bed wearing a coat with my two cats.

@rockygems123 here in CO also. We only got about 3 inches in the morning round- the 2nd round is here as I type. My neighbor city, Boulder got alot.. It a very selective storm!! HA!

Stay warm and safe.. I just hope our power doesn't go off!

We had tornado warnings last night which is early for Kansas. We ended up with lots of rain instead which we needed but I always freak out since I don't have a basement and have lots of pets.

CO does have weird weather esp when I listen to Marla Wynne on hsn who lives there.

Colorado Springs got a lot of snow, too. It's like cement when you go and try to shovel it! Took me most of the morning to clear my drive and walks. Got a good workout though.

More snow is coming later, they are saying.

It's actually a winter storm since Spring doesn't start till next week. It does look pretty though.

Oh my goodness!! It's 77 and sunny here in upstate SC! Reminds me how large our country really is and how different regions are from one another. That is a beautiful snowfall, but the dangerous kind in weighing down the trees. We are in big trouble when we see one like that in SC, power outages will be widespread and long. Stay safe you guys.

So pretty, I wished we'd get some of it in Albuquerque. Instead, parts of the city are predicted to have 65-70mph winds with maybe a little rain.

That picture was WV after the blizzard of March 12-14, 1993. My local area had 30" of snow. It wasn't snowing when I went in to work the 11-7 shift Friday night, but I had snow up to my knees when I left work at 7 a.m. Saturday morning!

WV is sunny and 70 right now.

My sister and I used to be in the Cherry Blossom parade in DC in April and it always snowed! We didn't live there but also always had snow.

Now I am so sad not to have seen any snow at all.

To me that is a beautiful picture @rockygems123.

Winter with snow is my favorite season of all.

Thankfully, here in Chicago no snow and I think we're about 20 inches below our normal, thank goodness! Do not miss the snow at all--pretty to look at but the reality not so nice!

All the schools and most all businesses are closed today. USPS and Amazon is not delivering today. I can't remember the last time USPS stopped delivering b/c of a storm.

@rockygems123 Oh my goodness! I saw snow forecast for Colorado last night on the news! You really have it.

In VA its 78, sunny and everything is blooming, daffodils, cherry, pear, quince, dogwood isn't blooming yet.
Next week it will be in the 50s. It's March!

Most of my life I really didn't like spring except for the trees and flowers. Because, and I know this sounds weird but you are expected to be all happy and yea it's spring whereas I was sad winter was leaving! And spring is all rainy and muddy. Not that this whole year hasn't been.

A few years ago I read there is also the opposite of seasonal affective disorder. Most have it in winter. But there are those odd ones who have it in the spring and summer. More tired then too. Me! I feel most energy and alive in winter.

So to all those out there who feel the same, winter lovers unite!

Wow! That is a lot of snow. As a low desert dweller who doesn't see snow, except in the mountains above our valley, it is simply magical to behold. However, I don't have to shovel it or drive in it or worry that the power will go out. Be safe and thank you for the photo.
