Lost cell service?

We are without cell phone service. Wondering how many others? It looks like a big outage across more than one provider. I’m in the south.
So how’s your cell phone service?🤷‍♀️

AT&T’s network went down for many of its customers across the United States Thursday morning, leaving customers unable to place calls, text or access the internet. Verizon and T-Mobile customers reported some network outages, too, but they appeared less widespread.

More than 44,000 AT&T customers reported outages on digital-service tracking site DownDetector. That’s not a comprehensive number: It tracks only self-reported outages. Although outage reports fell a bit in the 5 am ET hour, they bounced back in the 7 am ET hour and continue to surge.

I have Verizon and I'm in Arizona. No problems.

The most reported AT&T outage locations according to DownDetector.com include:

Atlanta
Dallas
Chicago
Houston
Indianapolis
Los Angeles
Louisville
Miami
San Antonio

I'm in Atlanta, with AT&T, and we are one of the cities listed.

I'm showing service om my cell phone right now, but I am using my WIFI right now. I haven't ventured out into the world yet this morning.

No problems with my tracfone. I guess it doesn't pay to rely on smart phones for everything. If a person used their phone to open cars or lock doors, they are out of luck. Technology is good, but if it fails, everyone is helpless.

Our morning news here (Pittsburgh) reported this outage.

They showed a screen shot of someone's phone (ATT) with a notification of this. They also said other networks might be affected. Mine (Verizon) seems to be ok.

Thanks everyone. I hope you all keep posting. It's interesting to see where this thing (whatever it is) affects people. We lost internet and cell service around 4 this morning, I think. We got wi fi back but the phone is still saying sos. We're with AT&T. They're saying to use wi fi calling if you have an emergency. The 911 system usaully works even in a shutdown, but it's not today. The only reason I've seen so far is solar activity.

Cyber attacks have increased all around the world and here in the US as well. Thankfully we have our landline for emergencies.

I have been after my husband to put in a "woodburning fireplace". We have gas so I could get by lighting a pilot light on the stove for heat or cooking. If things keep going the way they are, I think those who have these things in place will be better off than most.

Isn't it sad we even have to think about these things? Maybe some of these things happening today will be a wake-up call to us all.

What scares me is the plans afoot to discontinue land lines. Maybe this will be a wake-up call that it's not such a good idea to do so.

This is exactly why I wanted to keep my landline--a true wired landline, not VOIP.

But they quit servicing the lines and the service got more unreliable than my cell, and more expensive.

@Renata22 In Northern VA with AT&T had issues this morning when not on the wifi, think it's ok now. My husband was able to text me when he got to his office.
