How did you celebrate your 50th? Did you have a party?

i had a "normal" day.....i did receive some gifts and we went out to dinner, but overall it was very low key and that is how i wanted it!

Biancardi's 50th birthday coming up in a few months actually made me think of my own...a long time ago. We went out to dinner had Mexican food, came home to a huge cake baked at the bakery. It was marble cake with butter cream frosting decorated with a bouquet of roses in three different shades of purple. Besides me of course, , there was DH and our children in attendance. They sang happy birthday to me and each said something nice about me. The candles was just a 5 and a 0. They told me they didn't want wax or spit all over the cake!

I had forgotten all about that until now. It's a nice memory for me.

I try not to think about it because it turned out to be somewhat disappointing. In Feb, the weather here is usually cold & gloomy, one of my sisters who was working nights at the time almost fell asleep in her lunch. My other sister who lives nearby just made an appearance & when I asked her to go to a movie with me she said she'd made other plans with friends. Not being whiny about it, just pointing out that sometimes we expect too much & just set ourselves up for disappointment.

However, I do hope you have a wonderful 50th celebration!

I most likely went out to lunch with my local son and to dinner with my husband...same as my 60th.

I "celebrated" mine, unconscious in the hospital with Meningitis and Encephalitis. I missed my entire birthday. When I regained consciousness, it was the next day.

Mine is this year and I definitely don't want a party or a big event. I have always had low key birthdays and that is what I prefer.

I agree it is a milestone birthday and must be celebrated. For my 50th, I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. It was exhilarating! It was filmed and pictures were taken. While it was an awesome experience, I have no desire to do it again.

For my 60th last year, I ziplined. That also was a wonderful, fun experience and that I will do again!

My 50th birthday fell on Thanksgiving. We had a traditional celebration. The following summer my husband took me on a memorable trip to Italy.

I hope I celebrate life. I don't celebrate birthdays--no one in my family does. Some of my friends take birthdays seriously and I do hear from them.

50 wasn't a biggie for me personally. 60? Yes, it was. But cause for celebration, too. Lots of people in my family have died long before that birthday.

It's nice for the FL to have a big celebration, though. She doesn't really get to enjoy her family on a daily basis, as many Americans do and take for granted.

They eat together as a family every night, they vacation together, they do a lot of things as a family quite often. That's a lot more than many families do especially our military families, nurses working the night shift, our police and fire rescue people who work all hours and so on. She is no more deserving than anyone else. In fact she is less deserving since she has servants cooking and cleaning for her on a daily basis. Every day is a party for her.
