We have taxes withheld only on DH's SS, and the minimum at that. It's not a huge refund, but we hate to owe. Right now, our 1040 is pretty simple so we like to get it done. We've never received a refund in 5 days!!!!

We filed our taxes on 1/25 and our refund was credited to our checking account this morning.

@OKPrincess the IRS didn't start accepting them until 01/29, so yours was likely accepted by them on that date. Ours was accepted 01/31. The IRS said our refund would be received by 01/08...however our bank credits incoming deposits 2-3 days before. Regardless, I love the fast refund ❤

Our tax preparer said the IRS wasn't taking returns when we filed but keep checking the site. I was afraid they'd fall through the cracks and get lost but that got it. 🥳💃🏼

I got a small refund and it was in my bank three days ago.

I took my taxes today to my CPA as I had to wait for one last 1099 which I received 1/31 for my pension.

I wanted to get them in process as early as possible before the actual busy season began. Said my taxes should be done to be e-filed by next week, so that will be a week after that for my refund to be deposited so the tax situation for me should be complete in February before the madness begins.

I always felt that tax filing dates should be staggered rather than doing the entire country's income taxes at the same time.

All Colorado full-year residents will be getting a sales tax refund (called the Tabor Refund). Everyone qualifies for it but you have to file state income tax to get it. Many retired people on SS don't file b/c they are exempt from paying tax so they miss out on the Tabor Refund. If you are a Colorado resident and reading this you need to file your state income tax to get that refund. Single people get $800 and married couples get $1600 combined. I missed out last year and the year before that b/c I did not know about the Tabor Refund in Colorado.
