What do you think of the 3 men that died in the backyard after the Chiefs game?

It's such an odd story. I'm looking forward to the toxicology results. I agree the with all the talk about the homeowner not knowing the men were dead in the backyard is strange. Why didn't he answer all the calls for 2 days?

Very sad. This is a very puzzling situation. These were accomplished, bright men, and long term friends, making it hard to understand how such a tragedy could take place.

I'm anxious for the toxicology reports. Just from what we know, it must be some form of intoxication that impaired their judgement.

@San Antonio Gal , maybe I missed somthing when I read the articles, but why did they not leave in one of their cars? Or if that was not an option why, when he didn't answer the calls, did they not call somebody else? It will be iinteresting to see how it plays out.

I posted this story earlier and it was removed. No one was argumentative and just commenting on the article. The person renting the house was named Willis and he was a scientist. Apparently, the families tried to reach out to him for several days with texts messages, phone calls and Facebook. He never responded. He was supposedly asleep for two days. He claimed he had ear buds and couldn't hear anything.

He said the last thing he remembered was they left the house. These are men in their late thirties. I just found it odd they found one frozen on the back porch and two in the backyard. The brother of one of the victims said he didn't believe the story. He said Willis kept changing the story. So far, they are not charging him with homicide. They are doing a toxicology report and we should find out in a couple of weeks.

There were 5 men in the house. One said he left earlier and the four left were watching a movie. Something is very fishy with this whole scenario.

The whole situation is very odd. The man who was renting the home moved out and hired a criminal defense attorney; according to the attorney, he slept for 48 hrs after watching the football game and was oblivious to people calling, texting, messaging, and pounding on his door. Just how much booze and/ or drugs does that take?
Three of his good friends, two were childhood friends, they are found dead in his own backyard two days later by someone else who called the cops since he wouldn't answer his door? I can only imagine the heartache of the families of these three men. One of them has hired an attorney and demanding answers. The say law enforcement has not been forthcoming with any information. Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

ETA: Or maybe I misread and it was the family members who were calling and not the buddies.

If that is the case I would guess they ingested something that literally dropped them in their tracks. Maybe something they had prior to going to their buddy's house or something their buddy and the other guy didn't have or that's why the guy never heard any calls, he was in a dead sleep or out of it enough that it didn't register. The results will be interesting.

I think drugs were definitely involved and they all fell victim to the effects. The one who survived was in the house and, therefore, did not succumb to the freezing elements like the others who, for some reason, went outside. The homeowner was apparently "out of it" for 2 days and didn't know what had happened. Very bizarre indeed. Toxicology test results should provide some answers.

@San Antonio Gal - I posted in the other thread about it, but I don't see that one so something must have happened.

Anyway, DH said when someone is inebriated his body reacts and he doesn't feel cold at all.

As I understand it they had been to the game then went to the one friend's home for the after party.

I'm just guessing, but men that age probably had a lot to drink at the game and after.

I think one of them was found in a rocking chair on a porch.

Maybe the host passed out inside, the others started to leave and decided to talk more.

They obviously died from hypothermia. The toxicology results will show what was in their systems.

My thoughts are with their families.

Am to waiting to hear the toxicology report . So, cannot say what the cause of this horrible tragedy.

However , It is so unfortunate in our society , that many sporting events , it seems acceptable for people to drink and smoke pot till they passout or blank out .

It is very bizarre. I saw that it was an outside "watch" party and that they all watched the game on some sort of outdoor screen or TV. To me, something was put in their drinks for sure. Three grown men would have the sense to come in out of the cold, even when under the influence of alcohol.
