@SharkE The grands have the day off from school. It's supposed to be a day of service, but the school has not organized anything. I guess they're expecting them to do something with church or clubs.

DC has had parades, community rallies, volunteer park clean-ups, volunteer activities for the foster care system, seniors, and animal rescue, and more -- for over 40 years -- to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his birthday.

It's a federal holiday, no mail or banks and any federal offices. It's also a state holiday for SC so all state offices will be closed. Our city and county offices are closed, along with schools, which fall under state umbrella. We have a big parade followed by a day of service for community needs.

Yes, tomorrow we honor MLK. The day will feel like a weekend day as far as all the closings. There will be various parades around and picnics and some stores will tout their holiday sales. For me, I will be working.

Don't know how it is around the country or even in northern Florida, but here in the Miami- Ft Lauderdale area, the motoring public has to endure a lot of traffic jams and blocking of major roadway intersections. Wheels Up, Guns Down demonstrators take to the streets on MLK day for several years now. If the past years are any indication, there will be a few arrests and many motorcycles and ATV's towed. it can be dangerous for both the riders and the unsuspecting drivers in their cars. Doing wheelies and other stunts in heavy traffic often doesn't end well.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a peaceful day.
