enrollment plans.

No more Joe Namath, that old woman in the pink housecoat with the Shawn glasses on raising cain, people talking about Advantage plans.

The WORST thing about those commercials is...they make it sound like you are REQUIRED to have "Advantage"

I was told by 2 agents they were no good. I'm sticking with Mutual of Omaha Plan G for supplement.

One agent told me they won't sell them.

Regarding Advantage Plans, I think it depends on what State you live in. I have had an Advantage Plan for the last 4 years. The most I have paid out of pocket is around $200 for the year. My plan is 0 premium, plus I have dental and vision. I also get $105 per quarter for over the counter items and $150 per quarter for groceries. For me it is the best plan.

I've had my advantage plan for 2 years. Very happy with it. Wouldn't have anything else.

Covers EVERYTHING.

Medicare commercials are year round as people turn 65. I switched to an Advantage plan last year and fortunately have not had to use it but for $36/month at this point I'm keeping it. Also has dental/vision/and OTC benefits. This is with AARP United Healthcare.

I understand that it probably does matter what state you live in and the state of the person's health. It does seem though that Part "C" plans are becoming more prevalent.

Until you get sick. My neighbor had an Advantage plan and thought it was fine, until he was diagnosed with cancer. Then he had to pay very high amounts for deductibles and copayments. They have since switched to a Plan G. Maybe it depends what state you live in, in our state the Advantage plans are rated very low.

I don't see why they put these demeaning ads on targeting seniors. All it tells me is that your company thinks I'm an idiot. Just have an announcer with a decent voice telling me about your plan.

I'm in the initial enrollment period, so it doesn't end for me anytime soon.

I'm quite sick of the smarmy, condescending "facilitators" who want to help "ease the transition" to Medicare. Turning 65 doesn't automatically render one incapable of comprehending information and making decisions.

Of course I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, but they leave messages. Of the few calls that I've mistakenly answered, they hang up immediately when I ask for their full name, the name of their agency or company, and their insurance license number so that I can report them to CMS for the inauthorized contact.

I live in CA and 3 people I know who've switched from traditional Medicare to an Advantage plan all say it's better coverage and less out of pocket. NONE of them would ever go back, so there's that.

It must vary widely from state to state.
