Procrastination

I have been procrastinating for the last four days. I just keep procrastinating doing the bills. I just did them some days ago but I've got to do them again. I find myself procrastinating more since I stopped drinking coffee. I've got to give myself a swift kick in the rear. Anyone else here procrastinating lately?

I just paid my bills.

I've been procrastinating for the last 50 years. I'm very good at it. Luckily my husband and children are the opposite.

It depends on what needs done. I pay bills the same day I receive them and go grocery shopping when I need to and change sheets, cook and do dishes but I put off doing big chores like cleaning out the basement or garage.

I started the basement about two weeks ago but didn't finish. I really need to step up and just get it done...one of these days.

@Mindy D. If you had auto bill pay at your bank, you wouldn't even have to think about it as they do it for you. Plus you save a ton on postage.

I pay all of the bills online, most of them on automatic payment. I have never had an issue, @Mindy D.

@Kachina624 only if you switch to auto pay or e-bills to the bank.

As much as I hate paying bills I won't let anyone except our supplement insurance company dip into our accounts.

@CelticCrafter. I got my first PC in 1995, and have been using bill pay ever since. You still get the paper bills but the bank pays them. I've never had a late or misdirected payment or one for the incorrect amount. You are not allowing some entity to "dip" into your account; it's carefully controlled.

@CelticCrafter No one dips into your accounts. These auto payment are controlled by your bank or credit union. They send the money from your account to pay your bill.

No one can see into your accounts. They work like a check or CC payment.

Weuse this method to pay for bills that are the same amount monthly...like health insurance or TV cable or phone bills.

If you become sick or are in the hospital when your health insurance bill come due and your insurance expires. It is a big hassle to get it reinstated.

You have a lot in common with my husband. He has never done anything a day early or ahead if time. Taxes, bills, packing to go on a trip, cleaning up piles of junk, etc. Does not make for a good marriage when one is the opposite. Organized and on time.

@Mindy D Do you still write out checks and mail them?? Much safer to pay online. DH and I have been doing it for decades with no problelms.

But slowly the Christmas mess I made is getting torn into little pieces and making its journey to the trash!

@Mindy D Yes, I have been really bad at procrastinating lately. One of my prescriptions is going to run out a day before I can refill it as for some reason I didn't think about refilling it.

I had to mail a form by 12/31/23 to continue outside electric warranty and I was going to call them first as it used to just appear on my bill, but I put off calling them last week, was always going to do i the next day and here it is January 7, and I haven't called them nor mailed the form. Maybe tomorrow.

Our son just stopping in a while ago and I told him I had put off deciding wheher to go out to eat today weather wise as DH and I usually do on Sunday and finanlly decided not to; Then I was going to wash clothes and look around for some to take to consignment to pick up my check and I did not do that either. I was also going to do that yesterday but put it off until today. I will do it tomorrow - maybe.

I'm sure I have done more procrastinating lately than actually doing things the past couple weeks. I did get a hair cut and manicure this week but was doing to do it before Christmas so I would have my red and green nails but I put that off too.

Then I decided to do nothing today, so I don't think I will procrastinate about that - I will just do it.

@Mindy D I'm right there with you! I know I have a lot to do....but it's been snowing hard here and lousy outside. Ugh. In this weather I tend to be a little unmotivated. Also as much as I love the holidays, they can burn people out.

@Mindy D I'm 75 and until my early 20's this was a big problem for me. Had a wake up call when this bad habit caused me a big and I mean BIG problem on my job and almost got me fired. I learned quickly and to this day if I catch myself putting something off, I think back 50 years and "fix" it.

I pay bills online only and a couple I have set up to be paid automatically so it's no problem.

I suggest you try that. Been doing it for decades. No muss, no fuss.

@Kachina624 @I have some bills that can't be paid from the bank. I would do auto pay for the rest, but last year I kept getting changes in the addresses where some of the payments are sent to. These particular bills get paid from my bank with the bank's check. This problem usually won't apply to my bank when the payments are paid electronically, and auto pay for them might be a good idea, however, even these had changes in their payment information and I had to go into my payment accounts and update each of the ones with changes last year.
