@jannabelle1 wrote:

@luvmyteddy4, have you tried "Cortizone-10" Intensive healing lotion for Eczema (in a red tube) for your hands? It really has helped me....takes care of the itching and also heals. I found it at Walgreens so it's very reasonable in price.

My dermatologist told me to limit the number of showers I take and to not use hot water. Apply Eucerin or CeraVe as soon as possible after getting out of the shower and blotting off the water. You may need a prescription for a stronger lotion if these don't help you. Best of luck to you.

Thank you, I have tried that also. I've had this since I was 15 and the only thing that worked was a very expensive shot that worked but I almost lost my sight. One of the side effects.

I have given up on finding anything that works. It's pretty bad.

Cerave cream with ceramides in the round tub is my favorite for winter. I started using it last winter and love it. It soaks in, isn't greasy, and my legs/arms have never been better.

I use Cerave lotion in the warm months.

I have the driest skin ever. I do two things. I keep a sprayer in the shower filled with whatever oil you choose, i use Neutrogena. I spray it on damp skin and rub in, then I apply a thick cream. Lately I've used CeraVe or Palmer's. works like a charm. My skin is comfortable!

I'll be following this because I, too, experience that same issue. I wear jeans daily with a high cotton content; I think the cotton saps up the lotions more than polyester would but I prefer not to wear polyester when possible. We've just started getting cold weather here and already the lack of humidity has taken its toll. My linen closet is FULL of different lotions I keep trying. Right now I'm using the Ultra Repair Cream from the First Aid Beauty TSV a few months ago. My dry winter skin seems to react well with it even though I need to use a bit more than the tee-tiny dollop they say you need; glad two big vats were included. I scrub my skin with a net scrubber and once a week a sugar scrub. As soon as I semi dry off after the shower, I'll use the cream; it seems to sink in to my skin better after this ritual. Anxious to hear what others recommend.

Below are my two current faves. I use the GB Retinol after I shower in the daytime, not at night. I really like this stuff! And it soaks in well. I "think" @SilleeMee was the one who recommended it here. For just a good, basic moisturizer I also like Neutrogena Hydro Boost as it sinks into my skin really well too. And some have mentioned the CeraVe in the tub and it is very good. I used to use it, and although I liked it, I didn't feel like it soaked into my skin. I felt like my pants were always sticky and greasy. Ha! Maybe I applied too much but it is good if you're really dry. Finally, the CeraVe SA with the salicylic acid in it is really good for exfoliating and getting rid of "the crusties."

Here is my gold standard for skin:

Olio Beato first cold pressed virgin oilive oil

Because of my autoimmune issues, there are times (like right now) when heating and winter dryness begin to destroy my skin in certain ways.

I use this product, which I purchased thru Amazon and thru a grocer/restraunteur who offers this. It is expensive, but was recommended thru Ginny Chandoha's book "Lichen sclerosis: Beating the Disease".

My finger nail has begun to SPLIT, so I began using Olio Beato profusely on my hands and nails (and elsewhere) on 12/31 and continuing multiple times per day.

Olio Beato to the rescue once again for me!

My dermatologist recommended extra virgin olive oil for my nails. Why not for dry legs

It's the best!

While this may be tmi, my autoimmune affects more "intimate areas". Lol

So, I opted for this product and chose very carefully!

I use tree hut sugar scrub.....much less expensive (and I watch for sales at ulta and I get it for an even better price).

I use osea body oil. I also like nutrix royal body by Lancome (I get it from HSN when it is on sale)....I never pay full price. Too expensive.

I also like by Philosophy..the body creme...not body lotion or body souffle.

I think Josie Maran has a salt or sugar scrub . Bath showering products with olive oil or argan oil help along with Cerave lotion .
