The movement causes me problems, too. I cover the avatar with my thumb or enlarge the screen where the avatar cannot be seen. Problem solved.

My avatar has slight movement and most people don't even notice it...the diamond sparkles a bit if you enlarge it.

@simplyfriends I will say this without a qualm: Get rid of those annoying moving avatars. You only use them to get attention anyway. When I see one, I never read the posts it represents, and I'm inclined to think "here's a childish poster I do not want to read."

These are the instructions to change how gifs (moving avatars) display using FIREFOX on a desktop or laptop. There should be solutions for other browsers. Just search for make a gif stop looping in (insert your browser name).

The first thing you need to do is to launch the more advanced configuration screen in Firefox. To do this, launch the browser, and in the address bar type the following command:

about:config

What you need to do next is to search for the parameter that allows you to set up the number of times a GIF animation plays in loop. To do this, in the search bar type this code:

image.animation_mode

By default, you should see that this parameter has the default status and a normal value. This is where you need to make changes.

Adjusting the number of GIF loops in Firefox

There are three different values that you can assign to this setting, as it follows:

normal
once
none

The normal value is the one that is used by default in Firefox, and it means GIF files are played in an infinite loop without coming to an end. The once value is pretty self-explanatory and only plays the GIF file once, after which it’s locked and you need to refresh the page to play it one more time.

And last, it’s the none value which means that GIFs would never play when loading them in Firefox.

To change the value, it’s enough to simply double-click the setting and you’re then prompted to enter the new string. You can always return to the default value at any time using the normal setting.

I like that one too. A while back she changed it (to one that I didn't like), but she changed it back.

You were expressing your opinion on the subject. If someone disagrees, that is ok too.

I find the moving avatars annoying also.

I think the spinning avatars like @SaveTheTurtles can be a problem for some for different reasons.

Maybe @SaveTheTurtles can go back to the non spinning avatar?

It's a problem for me and causes me to have a health issue. I do not think they should be allowed, but since they are, I try very hard to ignore posters who use them. When one poster asked what people thought, I shared my health concerns and that poster enlarged her image as a reply. Rude, unthoughtful and in my case caused a problem. She did it with harmful intentions and she succeeded in causing an issue. Bully tactic.

Edited to add...I also have issues with flickering light, including sunlight thru trees. I have had to pull over while driving because of what those flickers do to my equilibrium.

There is no need for you to delete your post, you expressed an opinion in a respectful way. Some of us (including me) said we didn't have a problem with moving avatars, while others who do have a problem with them stated so. Some (both pro and con) more respectfully than others.
