Hotcakes vs Pancakes

So which do you say? I grew up with my mom saying hotcakes. I always say hotcakes. My kids now say pancakes. Just curious. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Always pancakes. Never knew anyone that says hotcakes or seen the word hotcakes on a menu, though I am aware of the word. These regional expressions are so interesting to me.

Never heard of calling them hotcakes. Did you grow up in the south?

Where do they call them Hotcakes? Only heard that on Green Acres.

@Tinkrbl44 My mom grew up during the depression in SE Idaho. So who knows. It's just what she called them. So who knows.

A quick internet search reminded me that I was wrong when I wrote in my previous post that I had never seen the word hotcakes on a menu. There is or was a McDonald's breakfast choice called Hotcakes and Sausages. Also forgot about Johnny Cakes which, I think, means pancakes. See, I told ya, I am a regional expression geek. And now I am hungry for pancakes!
