Veterans’ Day 2023

November 11, 2023

I will honor those who have served our country or are still serving, anywhere at any time.

I will thank the veterans I see out and about.

I will remember those who did not come back from serving overseas.

I will remember those who died while serving in the USA.

They all have stepped up to help, because they wanted to serve our country and help others.

Thank You for this post. This is the first Veteran's Day for me without my dad. He passed away at the age of 82 in December. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1961-67. He did not see theater (Vietnam) but was trained and ready for battle at any time.

Thank You Veterans

My Dad was a US Army war veteran, injured and was awarded the Purple Heart. He suffered the invisible wounds of war too. He passed away three years ago and I miss him.

I always think of my son and all his friends who died in war. I knew 3 of his friends who died.

My son has been deployed 5 times. He lost 12 friends and 1 of his own soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has carried friends' body parts to helicopters. He's seen more carnage than we can ever see watching news.

My son was seriously injured twice. One was from a roadside bomb and the other was when jumping out of an airplane.

My son is now fairly high ranking officer and is getting close to retirement. He has loved his career but it's taken a toll on him, his wife, his kids, me.

We have three veterans in our family. Daddy was a WW2 vet (front row artillery gunner.

Hubbs is a Vietnam Era vet (Air Force). And Sonny Boy served in the Air Force during the eighties.
My Daddy served in Eastern Europe and NEVER talked about the war,NEVER. Told a few stories about being in Great Britain (He was an MP there) but that is all.

I am proud and thankful for their service. Daddy also served on the Draft Board during the Vietnam War.

@CalminHeart Please thank your son for me and give him a hug from a QVC friend. The sacrifices that he and his family have made do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Thanks to all the men and women who served without regard for their own safety to protect us and our freedom. My dad was a Sgt. in the Army Air Corp. in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was a radio mechanic.

This may be the last Veterans Day that we will celebrate with my 97 year old WWII/Korean veteran dad. It makes me so sad. He is currently under the care of hospice at home. We have honored his service all of our lives as he was always so full of stories that I am eternally grateful to have heard. Like countless other veterans, his strength is allowing him to hold on.

Thank you to all veterans on this day.

@Group 5 minus 1 My father never told the stories either until we were adults. We had no idea what he experienced serving on 3 destroyers in the Pacific Theatre. I guess he decided there would be a time to tell the story with the picture. We have had him for so long that the thought of he no longer being with us is so hard.

What a nice post. Thank u so much to all who’s families have served!! My husband was in Army (combat infantry) in Vietnam
(TET Offensive- 68) and was shot up + awarded a Purple Heart. He has been the Master of Ceremonies for many Veteran Events this week.

beach-mom, thanks for your post. My dear father was in the Air Force during W W 2, My fil was in the Army during W W 2 & our 18 year old dgd is in the NAVY stationed in Pensacola, FL. Heading to Virginia Beach, Va in February for 3 years on land in February. So far so good as she signed up for 6 years.

I was surprised at a few of the places that did not honor our Vets. Hubbs put his Air Force uniform on and we went out (it still fit!!). I told him how proud I was to be on his arm as we shopped and how handsome he looked.

Both our McDonalds and Culvers decided not to honor Vets.

Your son ,and all of our veterans are "REAL Hero's " 💜

I wish we as a country did more for our Veterans and their families !

Once they retire, how are they prepared to go back to civilian life ?

Also ,I believe we should Honor our Veterans more ...heck ,they should have a whole month honoring them ...IMHO

I was thinking the same thing. My 92 yr old dad is a veteran. I went with him to a veterans recognition program at his assisted living home. I'm so proud of my dad too.

@Group 5 minus 1.. I agree w/how places weren’t honoring vets like they did last year w/free entrees. We went out last nite to a chain restaurant that gave him a free burger entree last year and now this year they were only offering free dessert to him...😕
