Thank you for sharing that beautiful story, Needed some kleenex myself while reading it. I thought it was horrible how the Vietnam vets were treated. Many of them endured alot of horror, crippling war inuries, and death. Big thanks to your husband for serving our country.

I don't recall anyone ever having an unpleasant thing to say about Ann-Margret.

She always struck me as a very fine human being.

I agree with you. She escaped all the gossip and scandal drama that plagued so many of her contemporaries.

@Toots711 What a lovely story, thanks for sharing. Those were brave men and women. I remember laying in my bed when I was younger watching those boys coming home from Vietnam (getting off the airplanes) - I will never for get.

My dad was in Korea/WWII...he never talked about his service.

She went thru a very long rough journey with her deceased hubby, actor Roger Smith, he was stricken with Myasthenia Gravis, a very debilitating disease.

I have heard that Ann Margret is a very sweet person, and she certainly comes across that way in any interviews I've seen of her.

I also recall something that seemed to confirm that. Do you remember the television show "This is Your LIfe", where celebrities were "surprised" at the beginning because they were supposedly unaware that they were going to be the star of that evening's show? Often times, a celebrity's true nature was about to be exposed, when someone they were not expecting, didn't know, tried to corral them into the show, at the beginning.

This happened twice, in my memory of watching. Ruth Gordon, the older actress in Rosemary's Baby, started to get very annoyed UNTIL she realized what was really happening. Then she became very sweet and gracious, such a phony. Also, I remember the singer Vicki Carr (she had a big hit with "It must be Him"). She too, was about to be very rude until she realized she was the subject of that show.

But Ann-Margaret was approached by a fan she didn't know, and was so lovely to her. It sort of verified that she is nice to everyone, not just when she knows the cameras are on her.

She is so much more than a beautiful face and figure. she had some very serious acting roles over the years, and showed off her real talent.

Have always been a fan of hers and that just shows what a class act she is. Those boys (and gals) coming back from Nam never got the respect or thanks that they deserved for what they did for us. Thanks to all veterans for what they do.

I read a little blurb many many years ago. She was asked if it bothered her when people spelled her name Margaret instead of the correct spelling of Margret. From what I recall she just kind of laughed it off.
