I always use Red Heart yarn for afghans etc.as it gets softer the more you wash it and the yarn never has knots in what I have bought. I have never have any colors run using this either.

I bought some Big Twist yarn at Joanns but it states you can not put in the dryer and have to lay flat to dry? I am not going to crochet a beautiful gingham Afghan (Pattern on DaisyFarm Crafts site online) so I need advice on I Love My Yarn sold on Hobby Lobby. I almost ordered some. We will have a new store opening a few blocks from me in a few months.

The Big Twist yarn was a Pale Purple that would go perfect with white and a darker purple in the Afghan pattern but if it is going to shrink or ball up I will not use it.

Thanks for any reviews you have either one.

Enjoy your day!

I have a habit of using Red Heart Yarns, for their dependability, always washing my afghans in cold water and hanging up to dry on the line outside.

Never once had a problem with Red Heart.

Haven't used the yarn you mentioned, but I purchase Red Heart on ebay, they have lots of vintage colors as well, so I can always find what I'm looking for.

If I were you, I would crochet a swatch and then wash it to see if there are any shrinkage problems or anything else, best way to tell.

Good Luck with your crocheting!

I have used Red Heart yarn previously as well. I have not in some time but I use Caron Simply Soft and I have not had issues with it.
I have not purchased from Hobby Lobby for their yarn goods as the one in my area does not have a good array of colors or yarns.

I have a Joanns about a mile from me and I am there at least once a month.

I am a big time knitter.

What you might do is wash on delicate and then tumble dry just for a few minutes adn then lay flat to dry on towels. I know a pain but if you feel the project and the yarn would be great it might be worth it.

I hope whatever you end up doing all works well.

I have made a couple of afghans with Love My Yarn from Hobby Lobby. I actually prefer it over Red Heart. It's soft and comfy, doesn't shrink and doesn't ball up. I seldom use Red Heart anymore because it seems to have gotten scratchy and thinner.

Vanna White's yarn is pretty good.

My hairdresser wants the yarn Big Twist so I will try the I Love My Yarn on my next Afghan. I will get just a skein or two to try first. It has good ratings.

Thank you everyone for their responses. I appreciate all of you.
I will check the Vanna yarn also. Some are very expensive for all the afghans I make I give to friends and families. They all appreciate them. I have had so many thankful smiles and hugs from them it fills my heart with knowing how to have the gift of crocheting. I have crocheted since age 16.
My favorite pattern people love is the Gingham Pattern.

Can't help you on your question but I use Caron one pound yarn and love it. Also love Scarfie yarn. Homespun is the third choice although I find it somewhat difficult to work with. All are washable and machine dryable.

Stick with Red Heart yarn. I get my yarn from Joan's and it is made in the US and is the quality that I expect from Red Heart. Yarn Inspirations has Red Heart, but you never know what you are getting. I had one skein that was made in Egypt and was not the same as that made in the US. Several of my friends have also started only ordering Red Heart from Joan's. They have a wonderful selection of colors and you never have an issue with their one dye lot. Happy Stitching!

I do have a few "premier " yarns, like HL's I love this yarn, but I'm leaving buying alone for awhile. Too pricey. I'll wait awhile and see if the tide's turn.

I ordered 4 skeins of I Love My Yarn from Hobby Lobby in Orchid. It looks like a pale orchid so I hope it is true to how it looks. If not I still can use this also.

The yarn is on sale right now for $3.49. That is a good price for a 7 oz. skein. I will give it a try. Some complain of knots in the middle but I will just work around it if needed.

Thanks.
