Autumn in the Mountains

Autumn is all around you in Lake City, Colorado (my happy place) but you only have to look up to see what's coming. They had their first serious snowfall today.

@Kachina624 Stunning. I looked up the nearby area last night while watching a Pegosa Springs HGTV renovation show Building Roots, loved the scenery. Lake City looks beautiful too and less than 2 1/2 hours away from Pegosa Springs.

Looked at Pegosa Springs Taos NM Walsenburg and Pueblo last night for a possible trip.

I need some of the towns to have antique stores, Walsenburg and Pueblo have them.

@rockygems123. You just don't see antique stores in this part of the country like you do in the upper Northeast. I think there's one on every corner in Massachusetts.

Where were you from originally? Believe it or not, I was born in Del Norte, CO. Mom and dad were teaching school in Monte Vista at the time.

@Kachina624 I didn't know you grew up in CO, no wonder you like Lake City so much!

Born and raised in the SF suburbs on the Peninsula. Lived either in the suburbs or in the city itself until we moved here 25 years ago.

Believe it or not the antique shopping (stores & estate sales) here is much better than in the Bay Area, way too competitive there and that was 25 years ago, can't imagine what a rat race it is now.

@StylishLady2 We had friends in Lake Placid so have been going there for years. Beautiful up there.

@rockygems123 The war intervened when I was an infant and we left Colorado. We lived all over the South and I went to HS and college in Pennsylvania, then I ended up in Texas for 35 years. Escaped for NM in 1999 where my parents had retired

The lake in the background is Lake San Cristobal, the 2nd largest natural lake in the state.

Wow, how beautiful.

No snow here in PA. It was 83 degrees today and is supposed to be the same tomorrow.

We are at our lake place and the leaves are falling, but not changing color yet.

I spent the last two days cleaning to close up for the season. I shampooed the carpet today. Tomorrow there is more work to be done.

We are supposed to have a pretty harsh winter on the way. Oh, I hope not! I like to look at snow....from afar. It is so pretty in pictures.

My dh & I just got back home this afternoon from a two weeks vacation out West. Two days before we got to Yellowstone Nat'l Park, they had a good amount of snow. The mtn tops were so beautiful.

We were in SD, CO, WY, MT. The scenery was beautiful. We had a couple of 30's at night and 60's by day. Then we had a beautiful week of 80's.

The weather here is lovely. Just did a trip to Maine and New Hampshire. A bit early for spectacular fall colour. The leaves are falling now and I think we may not have great Fall color this year.

Phillippe is supposed to hit us Sunday so I have moved Thanksgiving dinner up to Saturday.

@Lilysmom1 It was a long, hot haul but it finally cooled off in the Albuquerque area just in time for the balloon fiesta kick-off this coming Saturday.

We're really excited this year as there are lots of new balloons and right in the middle, on the 14th, there will be an eclipse of the sun and we're in the perfect geographical position to view it. They estimate 100,000 people will come to town just to see the eclipse.

@Kachina624 Wow, 100,000 people! It sounds amazing. Have you ever been up in one? The last time we were at Whistler in BC my DH tried to convince me to ride the gondola...unsuccessfully!
