Do you think that men (in general, of course, there are always exceptions) have delicate egos?

And if you do, why do you think that's so?

I think it varies by testosterone levels. The higher the level of hormone, the more egotistical.

Not any more than women. A lot of women constantly need validation and to have their egos stroked too.

Yes, I think so. My hypothesis only. I've seen it over the years with my husband. The need for praise and the need to be right is not as strong.

I think this applies to women too.....people in general like to be acknowledged for what they do no matter how little or how big the job was.....sometimes a simple thank you is all that is needed. :-)

I think it's much more prevalent with men than women. Every human being likes to be praised, naturally, but more so with men, IMO.

I don't know any of my male friends who feel pressure to constantly praise their wives for the least little thing. Women are strong and just do what needs to be done, most often without any recognition at all. I do hear a lot of women complain that when their male partner does even the smallest thing around the house, he expects unprecedented praise and gratitude.

The higher the testosterone the higher the need for ego strokes. As men age, their testosterone levels decrease and I have noticed changes in my husband's need to be right, to be praised, to be the center of the world, as he's aged.

Yes, some women do need constant praise for things. It may not be for the same things guys want praise for, but the need for validation is there.

I agree with all this, and would add that my husband totally knows that's how he is, he admits it. He would be so happy if I spent the whole week praising him for changing the toilet roll. We have a family joke that it's like training dogs.
