How Late Does Amazon Deliver?

I rarely order from Amazon but my recent one small item has been delayed a couple of times. Tracking said it should have been delivered yesterday, now it says I should get it today but it is 9:20 and no package. Actually it is still in another state close to me. How late do they deliver? I'm in no rush, but still.

Delivery Information

Deliveries can occur between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time. To avoid disturbing you, delivery drivers may knock on the door, ring the doorbell, or directly contact you for delivery only between the hours of 8:00 am - 8:00 pm local time, unless your delivery is scheduled or requires a signature. For those deliveries, drivers may place a call or text to the phone number you provided for your order. They should not attempt to deliver the package outside 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. unless they are able to reach you.

If no one is at the address when delivery is attempted, your delivery driver will leave the package in a secure location. If no secure location is available, or the delivery requires someone to be present, Amazon will send an e-mail to the e-mail address on file. You can select a date for redelivery by clicking on the Track Package button beside the relevant order, in Your Orders. If your order is eligible for redelivery, you’ll be able to click the Request reschedule link. Three delivery attempts on consecutive days will be made. If the third delivery attempt is unsuccessful your package will be returned to Amazon for a refund.

You can redirect eligible shipments to an Amazon Hub Locker using your Amazon Shopping App. Go to Your Orders, select your order, then choose Send to a nearby pickup point. This option is only available before your package arrives at the delivery station. Once it has been delivered to a pick-up point, it can’t be redirected again.

@Biftu. Amazon has their own fleet of delivery vehicles but many small items are delivered by USPS, especially if you bought from a third party seller. They may not be working tomorrow.

l look at the tracking , it will say if it's really near your house , as " it is 4 stops away " or such . l am amazed at how fast stuff comes , order in the evening and it's here the next afternoon ! ln most cases .

@judianne Guess you've been lucky. I ordered my item on August 25th and it's been one delay after another. Just checked status and it says Running Late. That's ten days! And since tomorrow is a holiday the wait will probably continue.

As others have mentioned, your item can come as late as 10 p.m., but we've never had anything delivered that late.

The latest that we've had anything delivered was by 8:30 p.m. our time. (CT)

If it's not here by now, it's probably delayed and chances are you'll get it when it goes out with the next delivery.

Check your Orders section and then check the Track Your Order button and then see when it will be going out next.

I've found that it's usually best to give it a day or so to update on its own and though delayed, it will catch up and it will then be delivered as soon as possible, usually within the next day or so, especially if it's coming directly from Amazon.

Sometimes if it's coming from a third party vendor, they might end up mailing your package by USPS, so you might want to also check and see if it's something that's coming by the Post Office, instead.

got a delivery tonight at 9:45 pm ...my laundry area is in my garage so I saw the truck pull up. I was in no hurry but nice it was delivered so late.

I bought a dress on Amazon for $13 and fit perfect -- so I ordered another color 😊😊😊

You may want to call for a refund or reorder. These late/lost deliveries have happened to me twice in the last 3 weeks. Probably going to happen again tonight. Was supposed to be here yesterday, then due today by 330, then they kept pushing it out another 30 minutes, now it says 10 pm. I am guessing it's not going to arrive at all. This is a recent development w/ Amazon for me.

Edited to add update: I was wrong...they did deliver the items tonight at 830. Glad I didn't have to wait until Wednesday, then call Amazon CS, then wait for my new order to deliver.

@judianne I rarely order from Amazon and only when I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere. No interest in paying $140 a year for Prime just to shop with them, certainly wouldn't be worth it for me. That's like going to say Macy's and they would stop you at the door and say it costs $140 a year to shop here. Actually I'm surprised others think that's a deal, but that's me. I'm never in such a rush to get my order anyway. If I was interested I could get their streaming channel for a lot less on its own. Still waiting for my package.

@Biftu I am a regular Amazon shopper. In my experience, whether the item is shipped by Amazon or someone else makes a difference in terms of reliability of delivery date. Who is shipping the item can be seen below the price of the item in the item page. I double check before finalizing the order because sometimes who is selling or shipping the item changes from the time I put the item in my cart and the time I finalize my order. Once the order is placed, I don't think Amazon posts who is shipping the item, and I don't know where to find this info. So I check before I order and pick Amazon delivery if I can. If you got a range of delivery dates (and not a specific date) at the time you placed your order, the shipment was probably by a vendor other than Amazon. Shippers that are companies that can be found at regular retail are reliable. I have had bad experiences with other shippers at Amazon. The overwhelming majority of items arrive eventually arrive.

When the item is a liquid, even Amazon may need to reschedule the shipment or offer a refund. My impression is that liquid items sometimes perish in transit.
