Have you ever been stalked?

I am watching a marathon on the Investigation channel? of a tv show called Stalked and it is scaring the cr ap out of me!

I don't know that I would actually use the word stalked but my DH and I had some real issues with a neighbor.

It came to a head when he tracked my husband's work number down (which isn't easy because he doesn't work for a company per se) and called the secretary a few times. DH told the neighbor he was going to file a police report for harassment and the guy finally stopped.

I'm afraid so. That was a long, long time ago when women weren't taken seriously about such things. Thank goodness I had friends that would drive me & were well aware of the situation. It turned out ok for me- it stopped abruptly & I don't know how but I was grateful it stopped.. He's dead now .

When I first got divorced (22 yrs + ago) I moved to an apt with my boys. There was a man there that was nice, at first.

Then he just got creepy. Knew my every move, called me to see why I was not doing things that he thought I should be doing ("checking on me").

Geez, I just summoned every bit of strength I had to leave the husband who literally tried to kill me, and now this?

I moved asap.

Thankfully no, and I cannot imagine having someone following me, or watching me or constantly calling me. It is terrifying when a person becomes so obsessed with another.

Please don't feel bad for starting this thread- who knows, someone that is being stalked might read this & it could be extremely helpful for them.. Talking about my past helps because nowadays people listen to women & it's well known women are stalked..

If I gave the impression that I am upset about the topic, I certainly did not mean to….secrets are what foster abusive behavior--shout it out, let everyone know!

I just was sitting here supposed to be getting ready for work and I flipped the channel to this show about stalkers and I was shocked to see how crazy things were and how nobody really helped the people that were going through this!

Don't delete it. Nobody is getting upset that I can see.

The more information we have, the better - that's my philosophy. I really worry about stalking with all this social media stuff and looking at colleges soon - so terrifying.

Why would you want it deleted? Like Suzie said, some woman might be reading that is experiencing this right now, so for other people to share their stories could be helpful. Knowledge is power. I don't see anything wrong with this thread, and if it is upsetting to anyone they don't need to read it. I believe people find help and comfort by sharing common experiences.
