How's your electric bill?

Mine was the highest since we've lived in our house, however, it was reasonable considering the heat and our high humidity. We're 100% electric.

It's not as high as last year's. Our water here costs the most out of all of the utility bill (gas/electric/water). Water is like gold here.

About $55. I have an evaporative cooler which only uses electricity to run a small pump. It has no compressor. I also use a little extra water for it.

$400+ 😮😕 Not happy about it, but not surprised given that we've been breaking records for high temps. We keep our thermostats at 78 degrees, but our single story house has been expanded with additions over the years, so it's not efficient to cool. On the other hand, heating expenses are very low in our climate.

We are totally electric. (Heat pump) Our winter bills are always higher than the summer bills. It is less expensive to use the AC. Ours is on non stop all summer longer long.. The bills are not bad at all.

We have allergies and very seldom open the windows.

On the other hand, the electric bill at our summer place is high. We haven't been there too much this summer and we do have a refrigerator that stays on, but scheech, the electric bill is high. It's a different electric co. in a different area.

Under $300.00 which is typical for the summer. We also have gas and it's more expensive over the winter.

My central air isn't working, sadly the unit needs to be replaced so I'm using a fan...the upside is my bill is under $60.00, the downsize it's 80+ inside. Ugh.

large rancher.....gas and electric (2 zones for electric PLUS a separate split in the sunroom.) our latest bill came in at around slightly over $500. it is usually more during the winter, especially if i have my mom here. not my highest summer bill.....has been more when all three of my children were living here.

i keep my house at mostly 73 (although i would love it lower at times), but if my mom is here she is cold if it is under 78. LOL

our finished basement is wonderful! no a/c or heat needed. it is naturally cool in the summer and warm and insulated in the wintertime.

@Mindy D - I think so. I've only lived here a year and 7 months and I don't think it got this high last year. But it has been so hot. When I got the email telling me what the bill amount was, I started leaving my blinds closed during the day.

Ours is lower than we have ever had at this time of year. . . we are not running the pumps and automatic cleaner on the pool since we are preparing to fill it in.

Bills certainly have climbed! It's either the gas for the heat in the winter (set at 68), or the electric for central air in summer (set at 73). We try to maintain humidity & even temps - I keep telling DH its for the delicate musical instruments, but really for our comfort. We live in a 2-story.

We have a ductless system that runs 24/7 all summer long and the bill is always less than $50.

My central air has been nonstop and I just paid a bill that was the lowest it's ever been. I have the thermostat where it always is, and the bill was less than half of what I expected. Maybe I'll get a surprise next month when they find whatever mistake they may have made.

We do a budget plan year round, paying a set amount for 11 months. The 12th month (July for us) is the even up or discounted month against the balance, then the amount is adjusted for the next year. We've done this for as long as we've lived here (over 30 yrs.). In July, we had about $50 bucks knocked off and the new budget amount we're paying is $115/mo.

I've always done budget billing, too. Our budgeted amount is $58, but last month's bill was for over $186. It'll even out in Sept, Oct. and Nov. Usually I get a credit towards December's bill.
