Another Trader Joe’s Recall

I love shopping at Trader Joe's and love a lot of their products but this is the 3 or 4th recall I've heard of this year. I realize they are happening elsewhere too...but making me skittish. One of them was "glass pieces" found in a great cold brew coffee I had in my pantry from them I'd only used a few times. Mine wasn't the dates they mentioned but I've not used it since anyway. Another was frozen fruit, which there's been other brands also with this.

And when I did a search of just TJ's recalls here on the boards many came up. Sigh. It's a jungle out there!

Anyway, just putting this here as an fyi..

This is upsetting. I love TJ's and have also been a bit concerned of all the recalls. What the heck is going on in these plants that produce the items? Is there no quality control?

I just don't get it, rocks in cookies???? Crazy.

I read that their dark chocolate bars are high on the list of having heavy metals in them. There is a list and boy are they ever on it! Every one of their dark chocolate bars-and they have many.

We buy their Pounder dark chocolate, we are fine with it.

Their products come from a lot of third party manufacturers and made in China.

They may want to re-think selling practices.

I'm coming close to giving up thinking I can buy safe products every place I shop. There's so little I want to buy that hasn't appeared on a danger list somewhere at some time.

I've most likely lived with risk forever. From sometime even before I went to kindergarten, I remember the ugly QUARANTINE signs posted on houses in which someone had been diagnosed with a highly contagious disease. We had them several times although I do not recall who was ill.

In the 1950's polio was the huge risk, and the beat has gone on and on. I try not to be stupid when I choose which risks I'm willing to take but for me, absolute safety is an illusion missing from my nostalgia.

PS-- Didn't mean to steal this thread. I shopped TJ's earlier today. I'd certainly like to think that what I brought home is okay.

@Judaline Yes, I just posted about this issue in most chocolate.

"A recent study found that 28 brands of dark chocolate contained high concentrations of cadmium and lead — heavy metals that can cause brain and nervous system damage and cancer if consumed in high levels."

That's just it. They aren't recalling them!!! It's business as usual. Either people don't know, or they don't believe Joe would do that to them, lol.

They had some cookies recalled in 2022 because there were plastic pieces in with the cookies.

It's very strange that the FDA has not posted about this recall.

Whole Foods 365 frozen strawberries were recalled too! Made in Mexico! My local grocery also made in Mexico! Can't we make our own frozen strawberries in this country??

I had no clue just how much isn't made in USA. So now I have to have my glasses on and READ stuff. I have a feeling I'm not going to be happy. We better shop smarter!

I expected more from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods especially. Beware

@Mustang Shar You do realize our own farms have had to recall produce too.

People panic over Mexico and other countries producing food for us when our food supply made in our country has had it's own problems.

Country of origin is clearly stated so trying to buy only USA products because unless you buy from local farmers you will starve.

Interesting... fortunately I have a nearby farm stand that I am using from now on and I'll take a pass on frozen strawberries 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've heard they don't use fertilizers that our country uses, ie manure. Do we use manure?

I had to laugh when I read your post. My husband is an ardent cyclist and bikes around the lake early every morning. When he leaves I give him a kiss goodbye and tell him to be careful because "it's a jungle out there".

And we too LOVE our Trader Joe's!

I love Trader Joe's , we drive 60 miles to the closed one . I have doctors in area there so try to go there after my appointment. It does worry me about the recalls , but it can happen at any grocery chain . It's the chance we take anytime we purchase food items anywhere and it is scary . I truly wish the government would put more restrictions on our food chain. They just plain don't care .
